Milly Alcock finally has a little company on the cast ofSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The new movie which makes theHouse of the Dragonstar the official Supergirl in James Gunn’s DCU has been slowly but surely adding people to its roster. The latest addition comes from one of the biggest sci-fi series on streaming this year.
The new casting also means that theSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrowis continuing to stick close to home when it comes to its comic book source material. WhileAlcock has been castto play the titular character, Gunn has now found the actor who will play Ruthye Marye Knoll a young girl who is central to the story of the eight-issue limited series by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.

According toDeadline, Eve Ridley has officially landed the role of Ruthye Marye Knoll. While not a particularly well established performer, she did capture viewers' hearts and minds as a young girl named Follower inside the computer simulation that waskey to the mysterybehind Netflix’s3 Body Problem. The actress also had a role on BBC’sCasualty.

With the addition of Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, it appears that the upcomingSupergirlmovie has several of its major actors. In addition to Ridley and Alcock, the film had previously found the man who will play the “big bad,” Krem of the Yellow Hills in Matthias Schoenaerts who is best known for hiswork inThe Old GuardandRust and Bone.
In theSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrowcomic series, Ruthye Marye Knoll is a an inexperienced warrior girl who does have plenty of power and ability. She wants to go on revenge tour against the person who killed her family, who just happens to be Krem. Ruthye enlists Supergirl’s help to find and do battle with Krem, leading them on a cosmic journey to bring the killer to justice. Throughout the series, the two women’s journey across the universe sees them share heartfelt and adrenaline-fueled moments that help them forge an exceptionally strong bond. While Supergirl and Ruthye are mentor and mentee relationship the relationship eventually morphs into something that is a little closer to sisterhood. The adventure allowsSupergirl to grow and realizethe kind of person she wants to be as she helps her mentee find the villain. It would certainly appear the movie is planning on following the books very closely in that regard.

It would seem one reason that Gunn decided to do this particular story for hisSupergirlmovie is that while the character has been introduced in other television shows and films, thisversion of Kara Zor-Elas well as Ruthye has been absent from the screen. Now fans of the comic book series and the DCU will just have to wait and see it finally officially hit the silver screen.Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrowis due to release on June 19, 2025.
