TheGod of Warremastered collection is currently only backed up by rumors, but if those rumors turn out to be true, it will need more than mere nostalgia to set it apart from the classic series — especiallyGod of War 3 Remastered. That being said, it might shoot itself in the foot if it strays too far from thehack-and-slash gameplayof the original series, so it may need to find other ways to distinguish itself. One rather covert way it could set itself apart is by featuring new PlayStation trophies for players to collect, which would ultimately give them some extra objectives to fulfill and increase their playtime in the process.

If theGod of Warremastered collection rumors are true, it would presumably feature brand-new PlayStation trophies for players to collect as they progress through each game in the original series. The first twoGod of Wargames,God of WarandGod of War 2, eventually gave players PlayStation trophies to earn once the original remastered collection launched, but before that, trophies weren’t implemented until the launch of the PlayStation 3 console. As such, the first twoGod of Wargames in a newGod of Warremastered collectionwould give players different tasks to complete than they had originally.

WhileGod of WarandGod of War 2in a new remastered collection would do well with brand-new trophies, the collection’s version ofGod of War 3should also include different trophies from its original PlayStation 3 and remastered version. Since it has now been 14 years since the release ofGod of War 3and nearly a decade since its original remaster, surely enough time has passed to warrant new trophies, especially given the fact that it would potentially attract more newcomers. After all, those who have already played and completed the originalGod of War 3may have also already obtained itsPlayStation trophiesand would therefore be left out of that portion of the gameplay following the collection’s release.
