It’s been nearly seven years since Daryl Dixon and Rick Grimes were separated back in season 9 ofThe Walking Dead, and even though poor Daryl has been endlessly searching for the leader of the group since he blew up the bridge, the two never made their way back to each other. With rumors spinning that Grimes could make an appearance in the final season ofThe Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, Norman Reedus gives fans the lowdown on what he thinks about the speculation.

Even thoughThe Walking Deadshut its gates on Jun 10, 2025, its post-apocalyptic narrative and zombie-infested world live on with many of its spinoffs. FromFear the Walking Dead, Tales of the Walking Dead, andThe Walking Dead: World BeyondtoThe Walking Dead: Dead City, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, andThe Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, many characters became so beloved that they earned their own place in the series.Although some are more successful than others, with Rick and Michonne’sThe Ones Who Livebeing the highest rated, fans have been crying out for the lovable rogue Daryl and the serious and complex Rick to rekindle their brotherly love once again.

Norman Reedus Weighs in on the Rick and Daryl’s Reunion Rumors

AMC announced at San Diego Comic-Con thatThe Walking Dead: Daryl Dixonwould be winding down and that its fourth season would be its final outing. Now that fans know that this could be the last time Daryl and Rick could likely reunite, Norman Reedus isn’t a big fan of the reunion rumor mill. Talking toIGN, Reedus said that he’s “very aware of it,” after being asked about fan theories that the series could end with Rick and Daryl finally meeting. “There’s so many ideas thrown around from fans for all these things. I think sometimes it’s better to do the opposite of what people expect so they’re surprised.”

Reedus went on to say that he isn’t a fan of giving viewers exactly what they want to see in the show because then, they “would know the outcome of everything.” “So sometimes I think it’s better to tell your story,” he continued. “People can like it, argue, hate it, whatever, but you don’t want to just read Twitter, you know what I’m saying?” Even though Reedus might not be a fan of the rumors and keeping any secrets close to his chest, Andrew Lincoln seems pretty positive about returning toThe Walking DeadUniverse.

Lincoln, who played Rick Grimes, revealed in a past interview withEntertainment Weeklythat he would consider diving back into the post-apocalyptic world if the story felt right, like how it was with Michonne inThe Ones Who Live.“Never say never,” said Lincoln. “There are other very important characters in the universe that are still wandering around and alive that I think it might be quite exciting to have them breathe the same air and see how long they survive together. But it’s a difficult one. It would have to be like [The Ones Who Live], a really exciting story.”

At the start of the year,The Walking Deadproducer, Scott Gimple, opened up about his desire to take the post-apocalyptic franchise to more international locations across the globe. “I’d also love to see it in Tokyo, I would love to see it in Africa, and I would love to see it in Iceland. I know that’s a weird one, but we want to spam the globe because there are stories all over the globe,” said Gimple. He also stated that he wanted to see other characters throughout the world, and how they’re getting on, so the likelihood of Rick being introduced again is a high possibility, but whether that will include Rick and Daryl on the same screen isn’t clear…just yet.
