Demonic Announcers have always been integral to the unraveling lore and mystery ofCall of Duty Zombies. Ever since those first demonic words were spoken inCall of Duty: World at War, fans have feared where that damnable voice comes from, and whocontrols such extreme powersof the undead hordes.
There have been quite a few Demonic Announcers inCOD Zombiesover the years, and each of them has their own story for how they became the commander of the damned, and the fate that awaits them thereafter. Every Demonic Announcer inCall of Duty Zombiesholds a different tale per map that they feature in.
This list will only discuss the Treyarch Call of Duty Zombies titles
Demonic Announcer Maps
The original Demonic Announcer that offers the most nostalgia comes from Samantha Maxis. Samantha Maxis was just an innocent girl during World War 2 and was the daughter of the renowned German scientist, Ludvig Maxis. Another German scientist, Richtofen, had an immense hatred for the Maxis family, Samantha was teleported to the Moon, where she would take control of the Dark Aether from within the mysterious MPD, and have an army of undead at her command.
Enraged by her father’s death and Richtofen’s actions, Samantha unleashes her powers from the MPD and sends a zombie army all over the world, but only to kill Richtofen and his Ultimis crew.Samantha Maxis has been aCOD Zombiesiconfor quite some time, and she may just be called back to be the Demonic Announcer once more.
Edward Richtofen from the main Ultimis timeline became the Demonic Announcer after trading souls with Samantha Maxis inCall of Duty: Black Ops’ Moon map. Manipulating others into his Grand Plan, Richtofen would use the Vril Device and the Focusing Stone to trade souls with Samantha, allowing his soul to possess her body and swim in the Dark Aether of the MPD on the Moon, while Samantha Maxis would now have tofight Richtofen’s hordeson the Moon alongside Ultimis.
Edward Richtofen was a rather humorous Demonic Announcer, and his voice lines were chuckle-worthy more than intimidating. Richtofen controls much of the experience inCall of Duty: Black Ops 2, and those of the Flesh who have eaten zombies, too can hear Richtofen’s voice.
The lead scientist for Group 935, and the Nazis' way into an undead army for World War 2, Ludvig Maxis’ambition would be his undoingwhen his colleague, Edward Richtofen, teleported Ludvig to the Crazy Place, where his soul would be able to merge with technology. Merging with the technology of Griffin Station on the Moon, Maxis would wait for Richtofen to take control of the MPD, before sending nuclear missiles to Earth to sever his connection.
These nuclear bombs ravished Earth, and with the help of the Victis survivors, Ludvig Maxis was able to throw Richtofen out of control of the Aether and take it for himself. In doing so, Maxis forsook Richtofen and the Victis crew and remained the sole ruler of the zombie population of Earth.
The Demonic Announcer with much mystery behind it as there is lore, the Apothicons were the ancient Keepers, the beings who protected the multiverse for millennia, until they were corrupted by the Dark Aether. Now, the Apothicons have one purpose: ravish the multiverse through destruction byunleashing undead armiesand Element 115.
The Apothicons feature across a few maps inCall of Duty Zombieshistory, but they are quite sparse compared to the others. There are a few unnamed Apothicons, perhaps controlled by none other than the Shadowman, who acts as their leader. The Apothicons had their tentacles in many pies, like how they controlled the Warden of Alcatraz, and influenced the destruction of Morg City.
Cornelius Pernell began his career as a CIA Handler, actively involved in uncovering the secrets of Group 935. Pernell’s fascination with Group 935 would be his undoing, and through the decades, he would create Broken Arrow: a top-secret American organization that would attempt to control artifacts and even an undead army. Leading this organization for his own gains, Pernell would experiment on himself with the American Pyramid Device and the Elemental Shard created from Ultimis’ Souls.
Cornelius Pernell’s constant experimentation caused him to merge with electricity, and he became the legendary Avogadro. A being of higher power, Pernell as the Avogadro would control an undead armywithin Camp Edward.
After Primis Nikolai destroyed the multiverse, a new universe was born. From within, those with power would seek out the banished multiverse, which was now the corrupted Dark Aether. Venturing into the Dark Aether, Kazimir Zykov would be abandoned and forever changed, placed into the Dark Aether for four centuries, which was actually forty-eight years here.
Zykov was reborn as the Forsaken, and his corruption twisted his mind and that of the hordes and disciples that he now controls. This former Hero of the Soviet Union is now the unstoppable force of the zombie masses, until his defeat at the hands of Samantha Maxis and Requiem.
