Completing the Treasure Hunter Challenges inRed Dead Redemptioncomes with a host of benefits, and money is just one part of it. These are essentially a set of optional tasks that will leave you scratching your head if you haven’t been diligently exploring the world. The Treasure Maps that you find will have a fair amount of detail, but they will only make sense if you keep a lookout for interesting things while getting missions done.
All the Treasure Hunter Challenges are fairly easy to complete. However, you will need to do quite a fewmain story missions inRed Dead Redemptionuntil you can unlock all the areas that the Treasure Chests are found in. For example, Tall Trees cannot be accessed until you complete the “An Appointed Time” mission in Nuevo Paraíso to unlock the West Elizabeth area. If you’re playing organically, it may take you quite some time till you wrap up all the Treasure Hunter Challenges and get the rewards.
You will be able to start the challenges and get a Treasure Map after a random encounter early on in the game. Each Treasure Chest collection will net you a Gold Bar and the map to the next location.
You can sell the loot at any shop in any town, but it’s recommended to consider your Honor stat. Briefly, if you’re on alow-Honor run inRed Dead Redemption, you will get 50% more money when you sell at Thieves' Landing, but 50% less everywhere else. This is reversed if you have high Honor. So, you can net some extra cash if you take a strategic decision to sell in a particular area.
Here are all the precise locations to collect Treasure Chests and complete the Treasure Hunter Challenges inRed Dead Redemption.
