As the story unravels, players will also have the opportunity to complete a number of fascinating collections that onlyadd to the franchise’s rich lore.
One such collection isn’t so much a physical one, but Aloy can discover a number of vantage points that tell stories of the landmarks that once stood in their place. Players that want to knowhow to find all Vantage Datapoints inHorizon: Zero Dawncan refer to this guide for written and video support to complete their collection.
How To Find Vantage Datapoints in Horizon: Zero Dawn
While the Vantage Datapoints inHorizon: Zero Dawncan be tricky to find on their own, there is actually a very easy way to track their location. Players simply need to purchase the Vantage Datapoint map from specific vendors. These will generally be specialized merchants, particularly Hunting Goods ones. One can be purchased early in the game at Mother’s Cradle, orlater on in Meridian.
With this map in hand, players will be shown white eye symbols inside large white circles. This will give you an idea of the approximate location of each datapoint, so you’ll need only venture to these areas to search for them. Once discovered, they will show as green eye icons on the map.
All Vantage Datapoint Set One Locations
There are four Vantage Datapoints to find to complete the first set inHorizon: Zero Dawn.
Air Combat Academy (Set One, Datapoint One)
The first Vantage Datapoint is to the north-east of Mother’s Cradle and south-east of the Main Embrace Gate, right by a Corrupted Zone. From the Corrupted Zone, you’ll see a rock formation that is significantly taller than the others. As you approach it, venture to the right and jump the smaller ledges until you reach the ledge with a small purple icon and a small supply box. Once you activate your Focus, move the camera towards the ruined building in the Corrupted Zone.
Colorado Springs (Set One, Datapoint Two)
The second Vantage Datapoint is found very close to where Aloy will discover the first Tallneck of the game, to theeast of Mother’s Heart. You’ll be looking for the ruined building that has yellow climbable markers, which is adjacent to the ruins where all of the Watchers reside. Simply follow the climb path to the top and focus your attention directly ahead at the ruins you are overlooking.
The easiest way to identify a Vantage Datapoint is to look for the purple glitch of a datapoint through your Focus, or by spotting a Rappel point, which is a branch with yellow rope on it.
Explorer Museum (Set One, Datapoint Three)
The third Vantage point of the set is directly north-west of the Devil’s Thirst Camp, which is a level seven bandit camp. After clearing the camp, simply use your compass to head to the north-west and look for the lone rock formation just beyond the road, as the forest starts. Use the yellow markers to climb the short rock and turn your attention back towards the camp.
Bridal Veil Falls (Set One, Datapoint Four)
The final Vantage Datapoint of set one is further west, and can be found south-west of the Two-Teeth camp, which is a level nine bandit camp. From the rock with the Daytower sign on it, head towards the huge rock wall and look for yellow climbing markers. After around 3-4 ledges, you’ll find the icon for the vantage datapoint. Turn your attention back to where you started and you’ll find the focal point.
All Vantage Datapoint Set Two Locations
As is the case with the first set, there are four datapoints in the second set.
Eagle Canyon (Set Two, Datapoint One)
The Eagle Canyon datapoint is just on the northern outskirts of Meridian, between Meridian Gate and Cut-Cliff. As you venture up the hill towards Cut-Cliff, go left to the rock wall and look for the yellow climbing markers. Follow the climbing path to the top and focus your attention back towards the city and to the right, where you’ll find the image, featuring some aircraft.
Monument Valley (Set Two, Datapoint Two)
Monument Valley is in the furthermost south-westernpart ofHorizon: Zero Dawn’s map, and can be accessed once players discover the settlement of Sunstone Rock. Head towards the settlement, but turn left before you go inside. You’ll find a yellow marker that you may climb, which will set Aloy on a path up the rock face until you climb onto a ledge with a zipline. Jump on the zipline and you will land on the platform where the Vantage Datapoint is.
Bryce Orbital (Set Two, Datapoint Three)
Bryce Orbital will take Aloy back to the north-western side of the map. If you have discovered and cleared the Shattered Kiln bandit camp to the north-east of it, that’ll be the best spot to fast-travel to, or to the campfire right near the vantage point. From the Campfire, venture south until you find the walking path on the right. Follow this up until you encounter some rocks, then jump on those. There will be two Scrapper machines in your way, but once they’re dealt with, you’ll find the datapoint next to a zipline.
Lake Powell (Set Two, Datapoint Four)
The final datapoint of the set is north of Brightmarket,a tribal settlement in the westof the map, or south-east of the most western Tallneck in the game. It is on a rock formation that overlooks a lake, meaning you can expect quite a bit of Snapmaw activity around it. To get to it, climb the second rock formation - not the one that hugs the lake - and walk across the yellow rope to the other platform. You’ll find the vantage point there.
All Vantage Datapoint Set Three Locations
Continuing the trend of the first two sets, the final set of Vantage Datapoints inHorizon: Zero Dawnhas four to find to complete the collection.
Faro Automated Solutions (Set Three, Datapoint One)
The first datapoint of the final set is in the furthest north-western point of the map, just to the south of a Corruption Zone. The point can be found halfway up the snowy mountain, just inside the Shell-Walker zone. Simply follow the path up the mountain until you find the rock formation with the rappell point. There are yellow markers to climb up this rock just to the left of where the rappell point is. Turn your attention to the left of the rock’s point to find the Faro Automated Solutions building.
King’s Peak (Set Three, Datapoint Two)
The King’s Peak Vantage Datapoint is arguably the most challenging to get to, as Aloy will have todeal with multiple formidible machines, followed by an aggressive, elusive, and very tough-to-kill Thunderbird. While it is possible to sneak past the Glinthawks and Ravagers in the previous clearing, the Thunderbird is almost impossible to avoid. As indicated in the video, there is a chance you can avoid conflict with the boss-like machine if you are not powerful enough to stop it, but it will be very difficult.
To get to the datapoint, you’ll need to go to the second northern peak on the map from the right, and venture all the way to the top. Once in the clearing where the Thunderbird is introduced in a cutscene, head west and cross the river. From there, you’ll find a rocky outcrop with multiple yellow markers. Follow the climbing path to the top and you’ll find the supply stash, along with the datapoint.
Sterling-Malkeet Amphitheater (Set Three, Datapoint Three)
The Sterling-Malkeet Amphitheater datapoint is a significant distance back to the east of the map, so players may want to considerusing the game’s fast-travel mechanicto get close to it. This point can be found north-north-east of Mother’s Crown, just to the east of the Sigma Cauldron. Unlike other datapoints, you won’t really need to climb in this one, but you’ll need to deal with a number of formidible machines, including a Bellowback, before it’s safe to discover it. The clearing has a weathered stair formation, so head to the top and look down the hill to find the image.
Denver Stadium (Set Three, Datapoint Four)
The final datapoint is directly east of the previous one, in the furthermost eastern point ofHorizon: Zero Dawn’smap. This area will be familiar to some players, as it is wherethe Revenge of the Nora questtakes place. To find the vantage point head inside the ruins overlooking the stadium, and find the yellow climable markers. Follow the climbing path up a couple of floors and you’ll have an even better view of the stadium. Direct Aloy’s Focus at the ruins of the arena to see how it once looked.
Once all datapoints have been discovered, players will earn the All Vantages Found trophy, along with the First Vantage Found trophy upon starting your collection of data.
