Spooky Cookies were introduced in theAnimal Crossing: New HorizonsVersion 2.0 Free Update. Released in November 2021, it was the last major update the game received, but that hasn’t stopped its hardcore fans from continuing to build friendships and improve their islands over the last three years since the final update. That fascination with the cozy game sometimes spills over into the real world too, such as with these baked treats.
One big feature included in the 2.0 Free Update was the arrival ofcooking inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, which brought forth a total of more than 80 different recipes that players can cook using their home-grown ingredients and in-game ovens. Reddit user FellowshipOfTheFeast decided to take one of those recipes into the real world, recently sharing an image of seven different vanilla sugar cookies shaped like bats, ghosts, and a variety of jack-o-lanterns in different colors, all decorated by hand with royal icing and plated to mirror the appearance of the in-game item.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons Player Shares Real-World Spooky Cookies
The Spooky Cookies aren’t this player’s first attempt to bring one of theDIY cooking recipes fromAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsinto the real world. They’ve also made Fruit Pizza modeled after the in-game version, and they said they’d like to continue preparing more dishes based on the game’s cooking recipes. They made plenty more cookies than what was shown in the post and even jokingly offered to share them with theAnimal Crossingcommunity on Reddit, as well as sharing their real-world recipes for both the cookies and the royal icing. As for the in-game recipe, players who don’t have it yet can pick it up randomly from handing out Halloween candy or from a villager working at their crafting bench during the month of October, so there’s still a little time left to get one this year without time traveling.
WhileNew Horizonshas held a loyal base of players since its 2020 launch, some fans of theAnimal Crossingseries are ready to move on to the next installment, and they may not have to wait too long. Mobile gameAnimal Crossing: Pocket Campshuts down on November 29, and while that news may be upsetting to fans of the franchise, Nintendo is taking it away to make room for an entirely newAnimal Crossingmobile title. The upcoming title will not be free to play, asPocket Campis, but some players hope that paid model means it will be more of a fully fleshed-out title for the series.
