Summary

Astro Botplayers can now enjoy an all-new speedrun level as part of the beloved 3D platformer’s latest free update. Developer Team Asobi committed to a weekly release schedule forAstro Bot’spost-launch content some time ago, and the newest speedrun level marks the third one so far, leaving only two more in the pipeline.

About three weeks ago, Team Asobi confirmed thatAstro Botwould receive new speedrun levelson a weekly basis, starting October 17 all the way through to November 14. One ofAstro Bot’s many lauded qualities is its slick platformer gameplay, so players were naturally excited about the addition of speedrun levels to the game. Moreover,Astro Bot’s speedrun levels will have their own online leaderboards, adding a bit of a competitive edge to the platformer.

Astro Bot’s second speedrun levelwent live last week, and right on time, Team Asobi has now made the third speedrun level available as well. Dubbed “Spring-Loaded Run,” this level makes use of the Frog Gloves forAstro Botplayers to punch through obstacles and swing across sticky platforms. Much like the previously added speedrun levels, players can dive into Spring-Loaded Run through Stellar Speedway, a galaxy that can only be accessed after finishingAstro Bot’s main story.

Two More Astro Bot Speedrun Levels Are On The Way

Spring-Loaded Run will also featuretwo new VIP botsthatAstro Botplayers can rescue. There were a lot ofPlayStation franchises missing fromAstro Bot, so players have been responding well to the added representation of characters in the speedrun levels, such as Eve fromStellar Blade,Rise of the Ronin’s protagonist, Helldiver soldiers fromHelldivers 2, and more. With each speedrun level bringing two new VIP bots, a total of four more are inbound in the coming weeks, so it should be interesting to see what Team Asobi has in store for fans.

While some have questioned theweekly release cadence forAstro Bot’s speedrun levelsas opposed to releasing all the DLC at once, it’s undoubtedly a good way to ensure that players regularly return to the game and have something new to enjoy every week. With only two more weeks worth of speedrun levels left, though, it’s yet to be confirmed whether Team Asobi is working on more post-launch content forAstro Bot. The studio did promise exciting things in development forAstro Bot, but until official details surface, one can only speculate.
