Fans have been anxiously awaiting a new installment in the series ever since the majorcliffhanger at the end of theTrespasserexpansion inDragon Age: Inquisition, which showed one of the Inquisitor’s closest companions as being responsible for the devastating events that plagued Ferelden and Orlais throughout the game. It has been almost ten years sinceInquisition’s launch in November 2014, and it sounds like the seemingly endless wait between games is finally about to come to an end.
A post made to the game’s official Twitter account on August 14 states that the official launch date for the game will be announced on August 15. According to the post, a new trailer will also be revealed, and more information will be coming about the game prior to its release, including gameplay footage and a dedicated Companions Week. There is already speculation aboutwhen the launch ofDragon Age: The Veilguardcould be coming, as leaks from earlier in August have pointed to a possible release date of October 29. When Will The Dragon Age: The Veilguard Release Date Be Revealed?
Unlike previous games in the series,Dragon Age: The Veilguardwill feature just seven companions, with a focus on a smaller party of adventurers. Only two companions will accompany the main character at any given time, which will set the game apart from the series' usual four-person party mechanics. Still, players should get to experience a mix of new faces and old favorites, as Scout Harding is set to make her debut as a playable companion and both Varric and Solas have been heavily featured in promotional materials.
One major returning feature will be the continuation of the series' use of branching storylines that form a legacy across other games in the franchise. The intentional exclusion of asingularDragon Agecanon storylinehas been a defining feature of the series since its earliest days.Dragon Ageis a series in which player choices matter, and each game’s story is influenced by decisions made in previous games, from the main character’s race and class to who they romanced, as well as who lived, who died, and who became the ruler of the Kingdom of Ferelden.
