Square Enix has confirmed thatFinal Fantasy 14Patch 7.3, The Promise of Tomorrow, will launch on Tuesday, August 5. The upcomingFinal Fantasy 14content patch will be the climax ofDawntrailand will include new story content and other features like the long-awaited chat bubbles, along with extended headgear options for Viera and Hrothgar player characters.

Final Fantasy 14’s 7.3 update will be releasedover a year after the launch ofDawntrail. As the climactic patch of the expansion, The Promise of Tomorrow will give players a glimpse into the future ofFinal Fantasy 14once the main story is completed.Final Fantasy 14producer and director Naoki Yoshida kept tight-lipped regarding the story content of Patch 7.3 to avoid spoilers. Along with the story content,Final Fantasy 14’s 7.3 update will make some changes to the player blacklist feature.

During the88th Letter from the Producer LIVE broadcast on July 24, Yoshida shared a trailer forFinal Fantasy 14Patch 7.3. The content update goes live on Tuesday, August 5, following a period of server maintenance. Yoshida also gave players a demonstration of what to expect in the next alliance raid, San d’Oria: The Second Walk, as he faced off against the raid’s first boss, the Faithbound Kirin. Yoshida also shared a look at the new Crystaline Conflict PVP map, the Bayside Battleground, along with a preview of some mounts, glamours, and minions players can earn by doing some of Patch 7.3’s content. The Vault Oneiron treasure dungeon was also revealed, with a slot machine gimmick that determines the enemies and loot players will get.

Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.3 Goes Live August 5

Subsequent updates following Patch 7.3 will include various forms of content for players to enjoy. A new Cosmic Exploration planet and Phantom Relic weapon quests will be added in Patch 7.31. Following that, Patch 7.35 will feature the Yok Huy crafter quests, a new Hildibrand chapter, and the new deep dungeon called Pilgrim’s Traverse. Yoshida said the philosophy behind Pilgrim’s Traverse is a “deep dungeon for everyone” with changes that allow players to fully clear it with up to three random players via the duty finder queue system. A new “Quantum” difficulty challenge will be available afterFinal Fantasy 14players clear the new deep dungeon. Like other deep dungeons before it,Pilgrim’s Traverse will have procedurally-generated floorsand enemies, giving players a new challenge each time.

Yoshida also confirmed thata player housing update forFinal Fantasy 14that would have allowed players to change the interior size of their homes was pushed back to a later date. Only time will tell how players will react toDawntrail’s climactic story update.
