Summary

Thanks toBaldur’s Gate 3’s robust character creation tool, it’s now possible to do a Dark Urge run of the game as Homelander, and it’s a great match. Obviously, there’s a premade design for each origin character. Still, players can freely change their in-game looks while keeping the heroes’ personal storylines inBaldur’s Gate 3intact.

Even though Dark Urge is one of the last origin characters added toBaldur’s Gate 3, the controversial Dragonborn with a twisted mind is quite a popular pick among players. Many recommend playing as Dark Urge at least once, mainly because of the character’s sinister nature and an engaging storyline full of exciting revelations and heavy burdens. One particular fan of the troublesome Dragonborn, for instance, redesigned theirDark Urge to look like Venom, with the character’s skin mottled with black veins reminiscent of a symbiote takeover.

Interestingly, one creative gamer might have found an even better match. As revealed by QueenLaQueefaRt on Reddit, they’re doing a Dark Urge run ofBaldur’s Gate 3as Homelander. The player has changed Dark Urge’s race and overall looks to turn the character into a copy ofThe Boys’ notorious blonde superhero. ConsideringDark Urge’s bloodthirsty nature, it’s quite a fitting choice. The player calls their character Omelander, likely referencing Karl Urban’s heavy accent inThe Boys. The provided screenshots show several scenes with the character’s Guardian who looks exactly the same as Omelander. This is most probably a reference to either Homelander’s habit of holding conversations with himself in the mirror or the iconic scene with his doppelgänger.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Player is Doing a Dark Urge/Homelander Run

The rest of the screenshots show Dark Urge/Homelander doing regular Homelander stuff, including the character lying on a cushion with a pattern very similar to the patriotic stars-and-stripes designs found in the superhero’s suite at the Vought Tower. Another scene shows the character slowly descending from above, which is yet another recognizable reference toThe Boys. Still, most of the images are reserved for showcasing the interaction betweenBaldur’s Gate 3’s modified character and their Guardian.

Fans’ creativity never ceases to amaze. One of the previous attempts at remaking an established character inBaldur’s Gate 3by a fan resulted ina flawless replica ofDivinity: Original Sin 2’s Lohse. Considering the character’s dark origin story, this custom-made Lohse would also have been a fitting choice for a Dark Urge run. Funnily enough, this was the exact thought expressed by players when discussing the authentic recreation of the red-haired bard inBaldur’s Gate 3.

Roleplaying as established characters from fictional universes isn’t something new for RPG fans, but the similarity between Dark Urge and Homelander has made this approach unexpectedly believable. Perhaps, this is the perfect representation of what a fantasy/medieval take onThe Boys’ infamous superhero could have been. Besides, this whole story is an excellent example of how inventiveBaldur’s Gate 3fans can be at getting a fresh perspective on the game. Hopefully, other similar roleplaying opportunities are waiting to be discovered by gamers.
