Joseph Quinn’s belovedStranger Thingscharacter, Eddie Munson, met a sad end in the fourth season of the hit Netflix supernatural series, but with it being Hawkins and all the strange shenanigans in the Upside Down, is Eddie truly gone for good? Well, Quinn might have hinted at an appearance of his character again forStranger Things' final season.

Consisting of eight episodes and set in the autumn of 1987,Stranger Things’main cast will be returning for its emotional final season, including Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers. Season 5 will focus on the characters reuniting in Hawkins to confront the aftermath of the rifts opened by Vecna and the military quarantine imposed on the town. Although the three-year hiatus after season 4’s cliffhanger wasn’t an ideal length of time for fans to wait, this didn’t seem to hurt the anticipation for season 5, as its release date announcement video had over 250 million impressions across all social media channels, making itthe most impressions for any announcement video in Netflix history.

Joseph Quinn Hints at Possible Eddie Munson Return for Stranger Things Season 5

Stranger Thingsfans will never forget thebeloved character Eddie Munson, played by Joseph Quinn, especially that iconic yet sad performance of Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” in the Upside Down used by Eddie as a distraction for the demobats while Steve, Nancy, and Robin infiltrated Vecna’s lair. However, Reddit users believe that there could be a chance that Eddie might make his way back to Hawkins for the show’s final outing.

Talking with Extra TV while promotingThe Fantastic Four: First Steps,Joseph Quinn was asked whether there was a chance his character could come back forStranger Thingsseason 5. “Oh my god, yeah, I mean, it’s going to be out soon, isn’t it? Who knows?” replied Quinn. “There’s always a chance for anything, isn’t there, really? Nothing’s impossible.” Although it’s very unlikely that Eddie could come back for any kind of significant role, there is a chance that he could make an appearance in a flashback scene. “A small cameo or a flashback, maybe. He’s definitely not getting an actual role,” said one fan in the comment section, while another said, “Perhaps something like the Billy and Max scene from season 4?”.

AnotherStranger Thingsfan thinks that Eddiecould still be in the Upside Downafter his death and could possibly make an appearance as the gang goes after Vecna for the last time. However, as many other comments point out, Quinn has been super busy since his last appearance inStranger Thingsseason 4, working on projects likeA Quiet Place: Day One, Gladiator 2, WarfareandFantastic Four,so it’s probably less likely that he had the spare time to fit in a cameo, although stranger things have happened!

Thankfully, there isn’t too much time to sit around and wait to see if any of these theories and teases are actually real or not, asStranger Thingsseason 5 volume 1 is scheduled to be released on July 05, 2025, on Netflix.
