Classes (officially referred to as Perks) inKilling Floor 3let players specialize in certain playstyles. While everyone can use whatever weapon they want, Perks supercharge certain playstyles by giving players certain effects that make them do more damage, absorb more punishment, and everything in between.

Class progression is tracked individually in this game, which means players will need to commit to one Perk if they want to max it out. If you’re not sure which class you want to stick with as you attempt to grind outKF3, here’s a guide that briefly covers their strengths and intended purposes.

KF3 Commando Perk Mr Foster

Hellion attack drone

Grenade

Frag Grenade

Let’s start this off with what might be the best class inKF3:the Commando. This is the jack-of-all trades perk that givesequal attention to damage output, utility, and survivability.Commandos mainly use assault rifles, but due to their weapon-based skills, they can be very effective with pretty much any weapon, especially when thatweapon has been fully-customized.

Commandos are equipped with the Hellion, an attack drone that fires acidic projectiles that deal heavy damage on impact and leave damaging fields on the floor. They also have traditional frag grenades that can be upgraded into either cluster bombs or acid grenades.

KF3 Ninja perk Nakata

As with all jack-of-all-trades types, Commandos won’t quite reach the peaks that other specialized classes can. Still, if you’re new to the series, and you want to use as many weapons as possible without becoming ineffective, then the Commando perk is the one you’ll want to use.

Hebi-Ken grappling hook

KF3 Engineer perk Imran

Caltrop Canister

The Ninja is the melee-focused perk inKilling Floor 3, and they’re all aboutstaying in the fight for as long as possible. This perk has several skills that let players regenerate health and negate incoming damage, all while boosting their own power. The Ninja perk is perfect for players who just want to get into the thick of things and cut loose.

Ninjas excel at melee combat using all sorts of bladed weapons, and their Hebi-Ken grappling hook gadget lets them zoom across the map and deliver electrified dropkicks to Zeds. They can also throw Caltrop Canisters that deploy electrified munitions that stun enemies in place.

KF3 Medic perk Obi

Out of the specialized perks, the Ninja perk is arguably the easiest to use. It provides incredible survivability, damage buffs, and crowd control, and if players pick the right skills, the Ninja perk becomes quite good with guns too.

Sonic Storm exosuit turrets

KF3 Sharpshooter perk Luna

Bouncing Betty Mine

This perk is for players who like locking down areas and providing logistical support for the team.Engineers start with the Multi-tool inKF3, which they can use to open Armor Lockers or activate Sentry Turrets and Ziplines. For combat, they have skills that boost their damage output and ability to control crowds through bullet penetration, the Stumble effect, and their powerful Sonic Storm gadget that can pulverize conga lines of Zeds.

The Engineer is arguably the second most well-rounded perk in the game next to the Commando thanks to its personal and team-wide buffs and access to Multi-tool improvements. However, it’s worth noting that some of its skills are exclusive to certain weapon types, which discourages cross-perk weapon use.

KF3 Firebug perk Devlin

Medic guns

Sanctum healing field

Biotic Grenade

Much like the Engineer, the Medic is a support-oriented class that focuses on keeping the team alive. Apart from having skills that revolve around healing, their perk-specific weapons also fire darts that can either heal allies or harm enemies. When the team is getting overwhelmed, Medics can use their Biotic Grenades to further buff teammates or the Bastion gadget, which can create a safe zone for the team.

This perk is neck-and-neck with the Engineer class in terms of overall power. Medics are by no means horrible when it comes to dealing damage and taking out Zeds, and a good Medic player can spell the difference between a failed and successful run.

Cryo Grenade

As its name suggests, the Sharpshooter is all about scoring weak spot hits. The majority of this perk’s skills revolve around mobility and weak spot damage, so if chaining headshots is your thing, then the Sharpshooter class is the one for you.

Sharpshooters have access to target-seeking Death’s Hand launcher and Cryo Grenades. The latter are extremely helpful for creating breathing room, and they can make hitting those weak spot shots much easier.

Precision rifles and hand cannons are the name of the Sharpshooter’s game, but the weapons for other perks will also work well for this class, so long as they’re properly modded and are capable of hitting weak spots. This perk is a bit less versatile than the Engineer, but if you’re able to hit your headshots, the Sharpshooter perk will serve you well in any mission.

Heat/Fire weapons

Killing Floor 2 Commando Weapons Stoner 63A LMG

Wildfire flame blast

Molotov Cocktails

The Firebug is the most specialized out of all the perks inKF3. The vast majority of its skills affect only Heat-based weapons, which means players will need to use those if they want to use the Firebug effectively. This doesn’t make this perk any worse than the rest, though.

Firebugs are capable of dealing extreme damage over time with weapons that can leave patches of flame on the ground. They can effectively block chokepoints with molotovs and flame weapons, and they can burn the biggest of hordes to a crisp in seconds. When surrounded, Firebugs can use their Wildfire gadget to turn every enemy around them into heaps of molten meat in a flash.

However, damage types play a big role inKF3, and there are enemies that are resistant to fire and Heat damage. Good Firebugs will know when to use other weapons when facing fire-resistant targets, and once they’re dealt with, it’s back to the cookout.
