Summary

In a game that isall about survival, choosing the right place to live is vital.7 Days To Diehas lots of great places that players can occupy. From the rooftops of large stores to small underground dwellings, there are countless places that players can take over.

During the early days, it’s important to settle in a place that is easy to take over and has sturdy enough walls to repel any zombie attacks. For the most part, new players will want to stay within the pine forest for the first couple of weeks as it’s the easiest biome to survive in. That said, there are a few great locations all over the map that are great for low-level players.

The Memaw Residence

Lots Of Room To Expand

Far From Any Large Town

Provided the player is on Navezgane, theMemaw Residence will be just a stone’s throw away fromTrader Rekt. Love him or hate him, most players will visit him regularly during the early stages of the game. This place is only inhabited by a handful of zombies that can easily be dispatched. As for the building itself, while it’s not very well-fortified, it will offer enough protection to keep zombies from getting inside during the first few days.

Behind the home is a fairly large flat area that is perfect for expansion. With a bit of work, it’s possible to use the Memaw Residence during both the early stages and late stages of the game.

Pass-N-Gas Station #04

Plenty Of Space For Expansion

Requires Some Work Above Ground To Be Usable

There are lots of Pass-N-Gas Stations dotted all over the map. While most of them aren’t that interesting,Pass-N-Gas Station #04 has a bunker around the back that is ideal for low-level players. There will be a few enemies inside the bunker, so the player should prepare before heading inside. But once the area has been cleared and a land claim block has been placed down, it is a great place to use as an early game base and storage area.

It’s important to note that duringBlood Moons, the player will need to have some sort of above-ground defense set up to repel the undead. But during the early days, the player can just use the roof of the Pass-N-Gas building to fight zombies.

The Johansen Residence

A Build-In Balcony That’s Great For Taking Down Zombies

Close To Other Zombie-Infested Houses

The Johansen Residence is built out of stone and concrete, making ita very well-fortified structure. While The Johansen Residence can be hard to take over during the early days, it’s more than worth it due to the strong walls and the balcony that allows players to attack zombies from above.

There is a pool in the backyard of the property which can be useful if the player doesn’t have any water. Unfortunately, collecting water in empty jars is no longer possible. However, provided the player doesn’t have anything equipped, they can drink directly from any water source. This building is great for players of all levels. It’s strong, big, but not too big, and it has its own water source.

The Goldsmith Residence

Plenty Of Space For A Storage Room

Expanding The Mine Can Cause Issues

Several locations in the game have hidden underground bunkers, bases, and caves. The Goldsmith Residence has a small but useful mine right underneath the floorboards. There’s also a water source down there, which can be useful should the player need it. With some careful planning, this underground area can be converted into a mine that the player can use to pass the time at night.

However, when digging below an existing structure, it’s important to be careful as the land above can collapse if it becomes unstable. To avoid this from happening, simply erect a few pillars tokeep the ground above supported.

NFD Engine 4

The building above the mine is in good shape, making it fairly easy when it comes to converting it into a horde base. All the player needs to do is upgrade the walls and create some sort of vantage point where they can fire down at enemies.

A Bell Tower Vantage Point

Perhaps A Little Too Big

There are multiple fire stations in7 Days To Die, but NFD Engine 4 is by far the most useful for turning into a base. Since it is made solely of stone,it is a very sturdy building thatwon’t require much upgradinguntil later on during the player’s run-through. Its bell tower makes for the perfect spot to pick off zombies with a gun or bow during horde nights.

There are only a couple of downsides to NFD Engine 4. The first is its size. It is a rather large building, which could be a little too big, especially during the early stages of the game. The only other downside is taking over the building. That said, if the player sneaks in with a bow, then they should have no problems clearing out the whole building in just a few in-game hours.
