The Knights of Favoniusare the very first faction the Traveler meets after losing their sibling. Almost every storyline in Mondstadt revolves around this faction as they are the face of the nation. The Narzissenkreuz Ordo is one of the creepiest yet fascinating factions inGenshin Impact.The members of this group were originally a part of the Narzissenkreuz Institute, but diverged to form the Ordo when they learnt about the inevitable end of the world.

Asthe divine figures of Liyue, the Adeptiplay a very important role in Liyue’s culture and history. Led by Zhongli, the Adepti bring about an important dynamic that is applicable in the real world, which is the dichotomy of progress and preservation.
This helps make the Adepti an interesting faction, as many of them have different moral standpoints. They also feature very popular characters, such as Ganyu and Xianyun. The most powerful members of this faction include Alice herself, Rhinedottir, one of the five sinners of Khaenri’ah and the creator of Albedo, and Nicole. This faction has not been heavily featured in the game apart from the summer events, but they are extremely important to the lore, with their knowledge having major ramifications forGenshin Impact’sstory in the future.
3Heavenly Principles
The Rulers Of Celestia And Teyvat
The first faction players will meet as they start their journey in Teyvat is the Heavenly Principles. Soon after launching the game for the first time, Lumine and Aether will face off against the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles, ending in the siblings being separated from each other.
The Heavenly Principles have not been featured much ever since, but their actions in the past are the reason why so many storylines take place in the present day. From the Cataclysm 500 years ago that destroyed Khaenri’ah to the Tsaritsa plotting to overthrow the Heavenly Principles, everything in Teyvat comes back to the Heavenly Principles in one way or the other. The rulers of Teyvat will inevitably make an appearance later in the story, which should make for some very interesting cinematics and lore progression.

The Abyss Order is one of the two antagonists heavily involved inGenshin Impact’smain story. For now, it is safe to assume them as the ultimate evil as they endorse the Abyss and embrace it. The Abyss Order’s motives are largely unknown apart from the Loom of Fate. The more peculiar predicament is the sibling taking the side of the Abyss. It is unlikely players will get any answers in the near future, but the Abyss Order will most definitely be a major player in the later archon quests.

The Fatui are the most featured faction in the main story and are comprised of some of the most popular characters in the game,such as Arlecchino, Capitano, and Tartaglia. The Fatui have been involved in pretty much every nation’s storyline, with each involvement bringing more answers and questions to the table.
The Fatui possess immense political, economic, technological, and military strength, making them an extremely powerful faction. The Tsaritsa and her Eleven Harbingers' plan to overthrow the Heavenly Principles is still unknown, but players should get to know a lot more in the upcoming archon quests. Members of the Fatui also feature in some obscure yet emotional side quests that really capture the humanity and moral compass of the faction, which adds more depth to their motives.
