Pela inHonkai: Star Railwas arguably the best debuff support in the game, despite her rarity being a mere 4-star. However, like all good things in a gacha game, there are always dangers lurking in the shadow called power creeping. After over a year of glory, HoYoverse releases a new debuffer who’s also Pela’s first-ever competition.
This new debuffer, Jiaoqiu, is a 5-star Fire-Nihility character. Unlike Pela who reduces the enemy’s DEF, Jiaoqiu instead causes enemies to take more DMG from the team. While their mechanics differ in the damage calculation, at the end of the day, Jiaoqiu’s debuffing is not that impressive as it’s about the same as Pela’s DEF reduction. However, one saving grace for Jiaoqiu is the fact thathe also causes enemies to receive extra Ult DMG,making him perfect for Ult DPSlike Acheron and Argenti. Therefore, when it comes to thebest Jiaoqiu team comp inHSR, players should keep this ability in mind.
3Jiaoqiu + Acheron + Pela + Aventurine
There’s no doubt that Jiaoqiu is one of the best Supports forAcheron inHonkai: Star Rail. One of the main reasons why he’s so good with Acheron is his ability to operate as her battery in combat. After casting his Ultimate, Jiaoqiu will create a field that applies a DoT on every enemy who takes action, which in turn grants Acheron multiple Slashed Dream stacks per turn. The field also increases Acheron’s Ultimate DMG as his debuffs increase enemies’ DMG taken. In short, Jiaoqiu allows Acheron to cast her Ult more frequently while greatly increasing her DMG.
As Acheron is the main DPS in this Jiaoqiu team comp, she still needs an extraNihility unit inHonkai: Star Railto fully take advantage of her Ascension passive. Having Pela further decrease enemies' DEF will maximize the DMG Acheron can inflict with her Ults. Finally, Aventurine is a great Sustain unit who can constantly debuff enemies and build Acheron’s Ultimate with the team.
If Acheron is C2, you’re able to replace Pela with a Harmony character like Sparkle, Robin, and Ruan Mei. Meanwhile, players without Aventurine can use the 4-star alternative, Gallagher.
Team Roles
2Jiaoqiu + Argenti + Jade + Huohuo
Since Jiaoqiu increases theDMG and Ult DMG takenby enemies, it’s only fair to pair him with characters that heavily rely on their Ultimate, like Argenti. To pull this Jiaoqiu team off, you can include Huohuo to help the team frequently use their Ults. Huohuo also operates as a Sustain unit who can heal her allies if needed. Not to mention, she can also increase ATK% through her Ultimate.
As for Jade, she also relies on her Ultimate to deal DMG, which makes her a good addition to both Argenti and Jiaoqiu.Argenti’s ability to attack many times with his Ultimatewill allow Jade to keep passively attacking enemies with her Talent’s Follow-up attacks and both units will inflict some insane DMG with the help of Jiaoqiu’s debuffs.
1Jiaoqiu + Kafka + Black Swan + Huohuo
As a DoT DPS, Jiaoqiu can work perfectly withKafka inHonkai: Star Rail. With Jiaoqiu’s five Burn stacks, and increasing enemies’ DMG taken, Kafka is sure to hit hard every time she casts her Skill or Ultimate. As for Black Swan, she’s also one of Kafka’s best teammates and can greatly increase her DPS. Black Swan can also apply a DEF shredding debuff on enemies, which further increases Jiaoqiu and Kafka’s DMG. Unfortunately, however, Jiaoqiu can’t massively influence Black Swan’s stacks with his debuffs as they’re mostly stuck to enemies until they die without refreshing. Still, the trio makes for an amazing DoT team.
Lastly, all three units will be dealing DMG through their DoT, so, it’s only fair toadd Huohuo to increase their ATK% while offering some sustainabilityand energy regeneration.
