Solar subclasses inDestiny 2are known for their strong buffs and high healing output, and when it comes to Solar Titans, players can have both of these and more if they build their character properly.

The classic Titan Bonk build inDestiny 2has seen many iterations since the release of the Throwing Hammer ability, and it just got another version inThe Edge of Fatewith the release of the Melas Panoplia Exotic armor piece. The following is a build that aims to use Melas Panoplia to its fullest extent while providing players with the damage and survivability they need tosurviveDestiny 2’sdifficult content.

Destiny 2 Throwing Hammer Recall

Destiny 2: Melas Panoplia Hammer Throw Build

Before anything else, it’s important to note that while this is indeed a melee build, it plays more like a grenade build. Melas Panoplia’s perfect recall mechanic locks players in an animation where theycannot fire weapons or use other abilities while their hammer is flying back towards them. This causes a dip in overall DPS, making it unsuited for the traditional Throwing Hammer playstyle used in Synthoceps and Wormgod builds (though it’s much better at dealing with groups.

Think of your hammer as a long-range, target-seeking grenade. It’sexcellent for nuking snipers from across the map, and it can deal decent damage against yellow-bar enemies without putting players at risk of dying thanks to the constant Cure and Restoration procs. Keep in mind that retrieving your hammer after it hits an enemy will Cure you — every time you bonk something, perfectly recall your hammer for extra damage in an area and a quick heal when it comes back to you.

Destiny 2 Menas Panoplia Exotic Armor

So far, this setup has proven effective for solo runs against Portal content with a -20 Power delta (no modifiers) andthe Fabled World Tier in Kepler.

This build can also be used in the traditional Throwing Hammer method of chucking the hammer at enemies that are five feet away.

About Melas Panoplia

This Exotic grants you the Forgemaster buff when you pickup a Firesprite or score rapid Solar weapon final blows. While Forgemaster is active, you’re able to recall your Throwing Hammer by pressing your Powered Melee button again. Recalling the hammer at the right time causes it to explode before returning to you. Picking up Firesprites or performing Perfect Recalls extend Forgemaster’s duration.

Destiny 2: Melas Panoplia Build - Armor, Mods, and Stats

For this build, you can use either afull Bulwark for Health or full Brawler Melee. What’s important is that you reach 200 on your preferred main stat and get the other one as high as possible. When choosing which stat to main, consider the following:

Pick what you prefer according to your playstyle. However,we recommend 200 Melee if you want to farm Fireteam Ops missions or any Portal activitythat allows for difficulty customization. If you pick modifiers that increase damage, Throwing Hammer and the Melas Panoplia explosion will make low-mid difficulty farming a breeze.

Destiny 2: Melas Panoplia Build - Weapons

For this build, use a Solar primary weapon with the Swashbuckler perk for a constant damage buff that stacks with Radiant. You won’t always be using your hammer with this build, so it’ll be nice to have a weapon that can still take enemies out fairly quickly. TheAhab Char inDestiny 2is a very good weapon for this build.

As for your secondary weapon, you may try use pretty much anything you’d like.A One-Two Punch Shotgunwill amplify Throwing Hammer’s damage some more, but if you want something that can complement your primary weapon, then a Rocket Sidearm or theMint Retrograde Pulse Riflewill do just fine. The same idea applies to your choice of heavy weapon. Use what suits the current situation best.

Aspects and Fragments

Roaring Flames and Sol Invictus are the staplesof ability-focused Solar Titan builds inDestiny 2. The former increases Throwing Hammer’s damage, while the latter lets Solar ability kills create Sunspots, which will deal damage over an area and grant you Restoration when touched.

Meanwhile, the Fragments here are all about giving and improving buffs:
