Bokeh Game Studios has released a brand-new trailer forSlitterhead, an upcoming game by the creator ofSilent Hill,Keiichiro Toyama.Slitterheadis one of this year’s most anticipated horror releases.Slitterheadalso features music by Akira Yamaoka, a composer who worked on theSilent Hillfranchise, and it boasts grotesque monster designs that wouldn’t look out of place in Konami’s horror games.
Slitterheadgot a big trailer at Summer Game Fest 2024that gave horror fans an insight into its primary gameplay mechanic of possessing victims as a supernatural spirit named Hyoki. A new cinematic trailer has now been released by Bokeh Game Studios that focuses onSlitterhead’s story, giving some insight into its themes and characters.
The trailer starts with a somber song playing as it shows off the streets of Kowlong, along with some brief clips of thecharacters that players will possess asSlitterhead’s protagonist. This includes a young woman in a red hoodie and a biker that had been prominently shown inSlitterhead’s previous trailer and box art. Other characters, like a young man wearing glasses, a pair of siblings, and a martial artist were featured in this trailer, as possible possession targets. The trailer then cuts to more action-focused sequences, such as monsters attacking random civilians, another character being arrested by the police, and a vision of a burning city.
Slitterheadshows off how its possession mechanicalso affects the characters in the story, like Hyoki granting the characters enhanced agility and claws that come out of their fingers, letting them fight off the monsters that are attacking Kowlong. The trailer also highlights some interpersonal drama between the characters they possess, though this is conveyed without any voice acting or dialogue. The trailer ends on a mysterious note as one of the characters that Hyoki possesses wakes up, with the clock turning back to two days before, likely as a consequence of the possession loop.
Slitterheadis launching within a month of theSilent Hill 2remake’s own launch, which should also make for an interesting topic of discussion among fans due to the closeness of the release dates and their shared creative DNA.Slitterheadis a brand-new IP from one ofSilent Hill’s original creators, while theSilent Hill 2remake is being made by Bloober Team and published by Konami.
