In a statement, Game Science explained that serious issues may pop up inBlack Myth: Wukongoccasionally as a result of its vast scale, as well as the myriad of software and hardware environments that the title is expected to run on. The company, which claimed thatBlack Myth: Wukongwent through multiple internal tests prior to its launch, has apologized to fans. Game Science assured the public that issues could be proactively addressed if players consent to the developer’s Data Storage and Processing Agreement. Moreover, the studio promised that it would focus on the quality of each player’s experience and address any issues affecting normal gameplay in future updates.

Game Science has advised players who encounter issues that prevent them from playing the RPG to try restarting or resting at a Keeper’s Shrine, the sites that act as checkpoints andfast travel locations inBlack Myth: Wukong. Meanwhile, people with graphics and launch issues were told to refer to the game’s support documentation.
Despite its issues, Game Science’s newest title has been a massive hit. With its peak concurrent player count of 2.2 million,Black Myth: Wukonghas become the most-played single-player gamein the history of Steam. This record was previously held by CD Projekt Red’sCyberpunk 2077, which was able to reach more than a million concurrent players when it launched in 2020.
