BecauseCall of Dutyis always trying to shake things up, there have been plenty of ideas not carried over to the next chapter. While that often comes in the form of maps and mechanics, the games' weapon rosters also seem to vary from game to game. Of course, that is often due to the different time periods and concepts at play. But, withCall of Duty: Black Ops 6, this approach could change drastically within its Zombies mode.
Just like every other mode, theCall of DutyZombies mode has had its fair share of weapons added and removed. They are either removed because of the different time periods at play, because they were under or overpowered, or simply to keep things fresh. However,Call of Duty: Black Ops 6seems to be a blast from the past for many. And because of that, it may be Treyarch’s chance to revisit some of Zombies' more forgotten weaponry through the popular mystery box mechanic.
Zombies Mode Has the Perfect Feature to Honor the Past Through
Black Ops 6’s Mystery Box Could be the Perfect Outlet for Nostalgia
Since its inception,Call of Duty’s mystery boxhas been a fun way for players to gear themselves up to take on the zombie hordes. In each iteration, this box has housed many of the game’s arsenal as well as the powerful Wonder Weapons, such as the Ray Gun. WithBlack Ops 6,that continues to be the case. However, some players believe that this game’s armory is rather light, with many of the same guns appearing constantly. But that could all change if Treyarch wants to delve into the past.
The mystery box feels like the perfect place forCall of Dutyto explore its extensive past. Through it, players could obtain a wide assortment of weaponry from previous Zombies modes. Instead of finding room for these weapons throughout whatever map they are on, Treyarch could just toss them into the box as a reward. This would not only expand the current game’s arsenal immensely, but it would also be a fantastic way to give players a bit of nostalgia. Of course, it would likely be a technical nightmare, yet it feels like it would be well worth the effort.
Expanding the Mystery Box Could Take This Mode to New Heights
These weapons are just some of the many guns that Treyarch couldadd toBlack Ops 6’s mystery box. If it wants to shake things up even further, the studio could also delve into the expansive list of Wonder Weapons that Zombies has offered over the years. While the Ray Gun has become a series staple, many of the titles have had their own unique list of special weapons that could once again shine in the newest Zombies experience.
As long as the studio can ensure they are not too over or underpowered, all of these additions would be a lot of fun for players to mess around with once more.Call of Duty: Black Ops 6already feels like a blast from the franchise’s past, so now the studio just needs to tap into that idea further. And with all the Zombies content looming on the horizon, it feels like the perfect time to do just that. If not withBlack Ops 6,thenCall of Duty2025is just waiting to include it.
