It’s only been a few years sinceCall of Duty: Warzonewas first released 2020, built on the back of the 2019Modern Warfarereboot. And yet, in that time, the free-to-play arm ofCall of Dutyhas rapidly become a core part of the franchise, with newWarzoneseasons bookending “main"Call of Dutygame releases. Now developer Treyarch has begun detailing its plans forCall of Duty: Black Ops6seasonsand their attendant integration intoWarzone, which naturally includes the addition of new weapons to the game’s burgeoning arsenal.
TheWarzonearmory is now so big, in fact, that according to a post byCall of Dutynews account CharlieINTEL, the addition ofBlack Ops 6weaponsto theCall of Duty: Warzonearmory will expand it to 177 weapons in total. With even more to be added in coming seasons, it’s not hard to see it breaching 200 available armaments in the near future.
Call of Duty: Warzone Weapons List is Getting Increasingly Huge
TheCall of Duty: Warzonearmory is supplied by three games:Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3,and the newly-releasedBlack Ops 6.Modern Warfare 2has the greatest representation in the selection, with more than 77 weapons across all categories.Modern Warfare 2also holds the honor of introducingWarzone’s primary melee weapon,the divisiveCall of DutyRiot Shield.Modern Warfare 3andBlack Ops 6add 60 and 40 weapons, respectively.
Reaction to the factoid fromCall of Duty: Warzoneplayers was mixed. Many players were impressed thatWarzonehas such a large selection of weapons, but at the same time, joked that the majority of players will just run the same handful of picks that matches whatever the currentCall of Dutymeta loadouthappens to be. Some players called for theModern Warfare 2weapons to be phased out of the game gradually to keep the selection manageable. Others suggested a more radical solution: forcing all players to only use the currentCall of Dutygame’s guns, in this caseBlack Ops 6’s. This move, they said, would cut down on “clutter” and give players who only playWarzonea new grind, as introducing new guns will force players to pursue new sets of unlocks and try new strategies rather than stick to the loadout they’ve already “maxed out.”
