A 20-year anniversary is no small milestone for anything, especially an MMORPG likeWorld of Warcraft. It is also the 30th annivesary for the entire Warcraft franchise, which meant that Blizzard really had to go all out for this one.
In addition to all the usual anniversary content, there is a whole bunch of new things for players to do. From classic Timewalkingto world bosses, this is the most content heavy anniversary event ever. Even Chromie and all her time travel shennaigans are part of this event in the form of the Codex of Chromie scenario. In this scenario, you must help Chromie fix errors in the timeline during the opening of the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj.
The objectives for each run of Codex of Chromie are randomized. While there are some similarities in each run, you may get something different from what is described below.
Codex of Chromie Scenario Walkthrough
Once you enter the scenario, you and the rest of your party spawn in the middle of Cenarion Hold, an outpost that got destroyed when Sargerasplunged his sword into Azerothat the end ofLegion. When your group is fully buffed and ready to go, talk to Chromie to proceed. After she briefly explains what you will be doing, she will mark your map with an X and will start flying to that location.
While you do have the option to follow her, she is significantly slower than you are whenusing Skyriding. Typically every run of Codex of Chromie involves killing enemies that do not belong in that point of time. For example, when the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj were opened, there were no Scourge, Burning Legion, or gnolls that took part in that war. Yet due to distortions in the timeline, they are there now, and you will need to keep killing them until the progress bar on the right is filled up.
When the objective bar is filled,Chromie will point outanother spot on the map with an X. Go there to begin the second part of this scenario. The objective will vary, but you will either have to stand in circles that appear or run and jump in circles as you gain a progressively faster increase to your movement speed.
When you fill the progress bar a second time, you will once again have to go to the next location pointed out by Chromie. This objective usually involves killing smaller enemies around an invulnerable larger enemy. Once all the small enemies are dead, you may then kill the large enemy. Repeat this five more times.
The final objective of Codex of Chromie is to head tothe Gates of Ahn’Qirajand fight a boss that doesn’t belong there. There are three different bosses you may encounter: Kel’Thuzad, Ossirian the Unscarred, and Tichondrius.
While they aren’t particularly dangerous, each boss has attacks you should avoid standing in. Notably, Ossirian the Unscarred is the most dangerous due to the whirlwinds he spawns and the curse that deals a lot of damage if it isn’t removed. As long as your tanks can keep the boss occupied and the healers keep everyone alive, you should have little trouble taking the boss down. At that point, Chromie will open up a portal that will allow you to go back to the Caverns of Time.
