Summary

Daredevil: Born Againwill continue the saga of the blind crimefighter Matt Murdock, also known as Daredevil, six years after Netflix canceled the series. One of the stars who reprised hisDaredevilrole inBorn Againteased that the new show that will be streaming on Disney Plus is more violent.

Daredevil, starring Charlie Cox, premiered on Netflix on Jul 14, 2025. The second season was released on July 30, 2025, and the third on May 08, 2025. It received positive reviews and even earned several nominations for Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. It also spawned a spin-off series focusing on Jon Bernthal’s character Frank Castle/ Punisher titledThe Punisher. However, Netflix canceledDaredevilin November 2018, along with the rest of Netflix’s Marvel series, which were added to Disney Plus in March 2022 after Disney regained the rights for it. At the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con,Daredevil’sreturn was announced with the official titleDaredevil: Born Again.Several cast members were back to reprise their roles, including Cox. However, one of his co-stars shared some interesting details about the new show compared to Netflix’s version.

Vincent D’Onofriois among the original Daredevil cast members who return toBorn Again. He reprises his role as Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, in the new series. TheBorn Againstars Cox, D’Onofrio, Bernthal, Elden Henson (Franklin “Foggy” Nelson), andDeborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), sat down for an interview with Nikki Novak forRotten Tomatoes TV. Cox said the characters would embrace a darker tone in Disney Plus' show. The interviewer then talked to D’Onofrio and said the latter mentioned a big fight scene in the upcoming season that fans would surely replay all over again. Cox turned to D’Onofrio and asked what he mentioned to Novak. D’Onofrio jokingly denied that he told Novak something and claimed to his co-stars the host was playing a bit and didn’t quote exactly what he said. Novak quipped she would never quote D’Onofrio directly after his co-stars laughed at them. D’Onofrio clarified that he was referring to a scene where Cox’s Daredevil fought “extremely cool” and teased that it was “exciting.”

Novak pressed on and asked if the show would bemore violent now that it would be on Disney Plus. D’Onofrio implied it was the case while teasing about a scene his character did that he never thought would make the cut. He explained, “There are some things in this show that we go much further with what we did on the original show. There’s one thing in particular that my character does that I can’t believe made it into the cut.“Novak tried to convince the actor to share it, but he teased that it’s “highly anticipated.” Novak decided to just get on with what the cast members wanted to share and told D’Onofrio, she would wait for that scene.

Daredevil: Born Againgoing more violent is probably taking the show to another level because the original series on Netflix was already gory. There was a scene when a prisoner stabbed a guard a few times in the neck. It also included graphic violence and grisly injuries like brutal fights that featured bone-crunching, dismemberment or even decapitation. Everything inDaredevilwas already extremely violent and brutal, so D’Onofrio hinting about his character doing something he thought would not make the cut must be something on the next level and indeed worse than the beating, stabbing, and torture that the viewers had already seen in Netflix. Fans should look forward to that scene, and for sure, it’s easy to remember because D’Onofrio said fans would replay it all over again, so it would surely not go unnoticed.
