Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earthshas finally come to the conclusion of its three-part arc after kicking off in January, but the final installment came with one major mistake that the studio responsible has now corrected.
More so than any one team in Marvel Comics, theJustice Leaguehas been the single undisputed center of the DC universe in pretty much every iteration since the team’s popularization. As such, they’ve been directly involved in almost every major project for the company, especially in the brand’s highly acclaimed animated offerings. The most recent project in the DC Animated Movie Universe isJustice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths,a three-part event designed to bring the Animated Movie Universe to a close. The final part that completed the trilogy was released on July 16th, and it would also be the final time that the version of Batman fromBatman: The Animated Serieswould sound true to form, as the irreplaceableKevin Conroy unfortunately passed away at the tail end of 2022.
While the jury is still out on how fondly the films will be remembered, there is already one remarkable thing of note that fans are discussing. In addition to featuring Conroy’s Batman,Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part 3was also set to feature the complementary vocal talents of Mark Hamill, whoposted a tribute to Conroy after his passingand effectively retired from his iconic voice role as the Joker in tandem with that event. However,Inversehighlights that a few observant fans were quick to note on the film’s release that the vocal talent behind the Joker in the threequel was not Hamill but a soundalike acting in his stead. This was the case for both the digital release and the physical home media, and now Warner Bros has released an official statement clarifying the matter.
Due to a manufacturing issue, a temporary voice-over was inadvertently left in the final version of Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part Three, which affected the character of the Joker. Digital versions of the film have been proactively corrected and have replaced the incorrect version of the film in users’ accounts.
In addition to replacing the digital version of the film to ensure fans get to enjoy Hamill’s legendary role as intended, Warner Bros. is also offering owners of physical copies a chance to trade in their original version for the corrected one. All in all,Conroy’s final project astheBatman was one that he loved, and Hamill’s Joker is an essential part of the legacy of that character. As fans prepare themselves to welcome new stars to both roles, this project will serve as a great bookmark for returning to the classics.
