Dead by Daylightdeveloper Behaviour Interactive rolled out its official crossover with AMC’sThe Walking Deadon July 29 following the collaboration’s original announcement back on July 8.Dead by Daylightis no stranger to collaborations like these, with the developers regularly adding new content and updates following its initial release back in 2016.
Previous collaborations have included the introduction of characters from other iconic properties, includingDead by Daylight’s recent addition of SpringtrapfromFive Nights at Freddy’sas one of the game’s playable Killers. Other crossovers forDead by Daylightreleased by Behaviour Interactive in 2025 have includedAssassin’s Creed Shadows,Tokyo Ghoul, andResident Evil, to name just a few.
The latest crossover forDead by Daylightcenters around AMC’sThe Walking Dead. Two characters from the show,Rick Grimes and Michonne, have been added as playable Survivors. Daryl Dixon has also been added, though his inclusion is as a Legendary Outfit for Rick. Both in-game Rick and Daryl feature voice acting from their original Walking Dead actors: Andrew Lincoln as Rick and Norman Reedus as Daryl.
Each of the new Survivors inDead by Daylightfeature three unique Perksthat reflect their survival expertise fromThe Walking Dead. For Rick, Perks include the option to silence injured and dying teammates, alert the Killer to his location, construct Fragile Pallets from the remnants of Broken Pallets, and reduce Scratch Marks and Pools of Blood when a nearby Survivor stuns or blinds the Killer. Michonne, on the other hand, can stun the Killer with a fast vault to create an escape opportunity, give Endurance to nearby injured Survivors when she Pallet stuns or blinds the Killer, and heal Survivors for the life-saving chance to instantly recover from being downed.
Dead by Daylightplayers will also be able to enjoy the addition of a special tile to the Garden of Joy map that features recognizable locations fromThe Walking Dead, including the prison and “Don’t Open, Dead Inside” doors from the hospital. Given how popular these characters and locales fromThe Walking Deadare, it’ll be interesting to see whether this new update will helpDead by Daylightset a new all-time player count recordlike it did following theFive Nights at Freddy’scollaboration.
Adding to this, Behaviour has hinted that additional Walking Dead content may be coming in the future that could help expand the collaboration beyond these initial character releases. There have also been leaks suggesting acollaboration withResident Evil 7and 8 inDead by Daylightas part of the game’s next licensed chapter release in November.
