Summary
An exploit inDead Rising Deluxe Remasteris allowing players to leave the confines of the shopping mall. A modernized version of the original zombie-slaying game from 2006,Dead Rising Deluxe Remasteris supposed to keep its action contained inside the mall in the fictional town of Willamette, Colorado, but at least one player has found a way out.
One feature in the remastered game is a staircase near the entrance of the security room, which makes it easier for players torescueDead Rising Deluxe Remasteredsurvivorsthat have been stranded around the mall. This same staircase also makes it possible to bring a bicycle onto the rooftop, which is essential to pulling off the escape trick.
As shared in a video on Twitter, one player has shown how they managed to get from the mall’s roof to the parking lot outside and beyond. The trick involves bringing a bicycle onto the roof, parking it just in front of the dumpster next to the fence, and dismounting the bike. By following this method, the video showsDead Risinghero Frank Westcatapulting over the fence and into the zombie-infested parking lot below. Once outside the fence, it appears he’s free to explore Willamette at his leisure, although the buildings and trees around the town are rendered in much coarser detail than the regular in-bounds areas, and fences can be clipped through. Those hoping to fight zombies around the town are in for a disappointment, though, as aside from the parking lot, the outside world is pretty lonely.
An early scene inDead Rising Deluxe Remasterinvolves Frank helping other survivors trapped inside the mall try to barricade the front entrance, which ends in disaster but establishes that leaving out the front doors is not an option. While players get a good look at the town being ravaged by zombies while flying in on a helicopter in the opening scene, the out-of-bounds zombies are not actually hostile and won’t attack Frank. Still, players are free to kill them anyway, and they do add to the game’s kill count. Of course, there’s no known way to get back inside the mall once players escape it, but getting outside can let Frank get some interestingDead Risingphotosbefore his inevitable failure.
While the additional area to explore may excite longtimeDead Risingfans, it’s clearly not something that the developers intended them to see. Those yearning for more from the series can look forward to more content, however, as there’s evidence thatCapcom may be considering aDead Risingsequel, another remastered game, or a remake of one of the other games from the series in the near future.
