Summary

The upcomingDead Rising Deluxe Remasterwill let Infinity Mode players save mid-run, a massive quality-of-life-change when compared to the original game. The originalDead Risingwas built with replayability in mind, with players encouraged to make it as far as possible in the story until they died, at which point they would start over with all their upgrades and once again try to make it to the end of the game.

It seems as thoughDead Rising Deluxe Remasterwill retain this unique progression, as well as the unlockable game modes players could get for accomplishing certain things while exploring thezombie-infested Willamette Parkview Mall. One ofDead Rising’s most infamous game modes, Infinity Mode, will be back for theDeluxe Remaster, though it won’t be exactly the same as it was in the 2006 original.

The 2006Dead Rising’s Infinity Mode was known for being brutally hard. In Infinity Mode, Frank’s health is constantly depleting, health items don’t respawn, and it’s not possible for players to save in the middle of a run. This meant anyDead Risingfans trying to unlock all the achievements would need to leave their console on for upwards of 15 hours straight. This was never ideal, especially back when the Red Ring of Death was hanging over everyone’s heads, so luckily,Dead Rising Deluxe Remasteris making a welcome change. As confirmed by IGN,Dead Rising Deluxe Remasterwill let players save in the middle of an Infinity Mode run. While some hardcore purists may scoff at this change, many others will be happy to see that Infinity Mode is becoming far more accessible inDead Rising Deluxe Remaster.

That’s not the only change coming toDead Rising’s Infinity Mode when theDeluxe Remasterreleases on September 19. It’s also been confirmed that players will have the ability to “fast-forward time” and get helpful item drops from zombies that they kill. These tweaks should add up to makeDead Rising Deluxe Remaster’s Infinity Mode much more manageable and should hopefully give more fans the chance to unlock all the game’s achievements. But while many fans will be happy to see this particular change, other changes being made toDead Rising Deluxe Remasterare proving to be controversial.

For instance, Capcom has removed Erotic photos fromDead Rising Deluxe Remaster, meaning players will no longer be awarded bonus points for taking inappropriate pictures of the game’s female characters.Dead Rising Deluxe Remasteralso changes Cliff’s backstoryso he’s no longer a Vietnam War veteran, a change that has upset a lot of longtime fans. However, the original version of the game still exists and will apparently not be delisted, so fans can still play the original if they’d rather, while others can check out the remaster with its upgraded graphics and quality-of-life improvements.
