Deltarunehas delivered a new updat that solves a lot of nagging problems that arrived alongside the release of Chapters 3 and 4. The changes toDeltarunein the latest patch include fixing multiple instances when players could get softlocked out of progression in the episodic role-playing game, along with several other troubling issues.
After a long wait,DeltaruneChapters 3 and 4 were releasedon June 5, giving players a double dose of new story and action nearly four years after the release of the previous chapter. The follow-up to Toby Fox’sUndertalecontinues to delight fans, with more than a quarter of its user reviews on Steam pouring in over the last 30 days and both recent and all-time reviews carrying an astounding 98 percent approval rating from players.
However, despite that very welcome reception, the latest installment of the game hasn’t been completely without its issues. The developer has been active in updating the game to iron out problems, however, having already released four other patches and hotfixes since the launch of chapters 3 and 4. Now, Patch 1.03 addresses three different areas where players attempting tobeatDeltaruneChapters 3 and 4can get stuck. Two of these instances occur in Chapter 3, with the first previously locking players out of progression after using three keys on Board 1, and the second locking the game up for players who fail to reach the Power Croissant. Another fix has been added to Chapter 4, preventing a softlock if the tutu is not returned to the player.
In addition to these progress blockers in the new chapters, there has been a softlock issue occurring in Chapter 2 on theNintendo Switch 2 version ofDeltarune. This particular problem had been holding up player progression following the section of the game in which players were tasked with catching mice using the baskets on their heads, but it has also been resolved. Along with softlock issues, the new update resolves several other problems players have been experiencing, including a crash that can occur in Chapter 3 if players push the pyramid in the wrong direction and a freeze-up issue that occurred in Chapter 4 when players attempted to change the octave on the giant organ.
There have also been changes to a few differentbosses inDeltarune. In Chapter 3, the Sword Tunnel attack of one boss, whose name seems to have been intentionally omitted, has become easier to dodge by reducing the size of the attack’s hit box. Additionally, Jackenstein in Chapter 4 doesn’t show any signs of change initially, but players who have already lost that fight two times in a row will see pumpkin damage cut in half on subsequent attempts, and TP gain increased by 50 percent if they fail a third consecutive time.
