CyberConnect2 has released a new update forDemon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Sweep the Board, bringing the game to version 1.20. This new update forSweep the Boardadds a new game board and a set of mini-games based on the Hashira Training arc, one of the major arcs of theDemon Slayerfranchise. The update is available now for gamers to download.
Sweep the Boardis aMario Party-esque board gamethat was released earlier this April for Nintendo Switch, launching on other major console platforms the following July. Developed by CyberConnect2 and published by Sega, this game is a completely different experience from theHinokami Chroniclesarena fighter. Players prepare themselves with events and mini-games during the day, and fight demons during the night. Many iconic characters from the anime, like Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and the Hashira, are playable in this game as well. The initial release had boards based on iconic locations from the show, like Mt. Fujikasane and Asakusa. The new update adds more content based on the Hashira Training arc.
The version 1.20 update ofSweep the Boardadds “Board Six,” a new game board themed aroundDemon Slayer’s Hashira Training arc. This new board includes characters relevant to the story arc, such as Tengen Uzui’s three wives, Hinatsuru, Makio, and Suma, along with the Demon Slayer swordsman Murata, who will assist the players in their game. Landing on certain spaces may even initiate an event where the player will get to train with one of the Hashira.

Two new mini-games are also included in this update: Cold Soba Noodle Speed-Eating Contest and Fly the Distance. The Noodle Speed-Eating contest requires the player to eat cold soba noodles faster than the Water Hashira by quickly pressing the buttons in the right order. Fly the Distance has the player flying a paper airplane by stopping its gauge at the right time, where flying into gusts of wind will slow the player down. Much like the otherboards inSweep the Board, when the game shifts to its night cycle, a set of bosses will put the players' skills to the test. On this board, the Mist Hashira, Snake Hashira, and Wind Hashira will appear, and all four players need to work together in order to overcome their challenges.
While theDemon Slayeranime has finished, the series has not had many video games to take advantage of its popularity. To wit,Demon Slayerhas only had two major console titlesin the past few years,The Hinokami ChroniclesandSweep the Board, which are based on earlier arcs in the anime. With the anime’s conclusion, it might be best to do another definitiveDemon Slayerconsole game, like a sequel toThe Hinokami Chronicles.
