Demon Slayer is the Biggest Anime Series At The Moment

The New Movie Has Been Breaking All Records in Japan

Demon Slayeris a hugely popular series, and this has been the case for a few years now. TheDemon Slayermanga was always quite a hit, but its popularity has definitely been propelled by its anime adaptation, which started back in 2019.

Since then, the series has gotten a bunch more seasons, and even some movies. When it comes to anime movies, no other series does it quite like Demon Slayer.

Demon Slayer

The first Demon Slayer Movie, known as the Mugen Train, broke all records in Japan. And now, a new Demon Slayer movie, Akaza’s Return, just came out, and it is breaking all records previously held by Mugen Train, one by one. But, even though Demon Slayer is one of the most profitable series, it does have its haters.

Demon Slayer Is Big, But It Has Its Haters

Not everyone knows who Kazuhiko Torishima is, but he is quite a big name in the manga industry. This man previously worked on Dragon Ball as an editor, and guided Akira Toriyama for many years.

Kazuhiko Torishima has his share of controversial takes about all big series, and his recent targetseems to be Demon Slayer.

“Demon Slayer only got so popular because the anime was amazing. The manga itself wasn’t all that great. It’s like the manga was just raw coffee beans, and the anime roasted and brewed them into something truly special.” — Kazuhiko Torishima

Aside from that, Kazuhiko Torishima has also saidthe battles in Demon Slayercould be improved upon. He even says Gotouge should’ve taken more inspiration from Dragon Ball when it comes to fights.

“The fight scenes in Demon Slayer had room for improvement. Editors should have encouraged the author to study why the fight scenes in Dragon Ball were so amazing. “ — Kazuhiko Torishima

Demon Slayer has been the target of Kazuhiko Torishima’s criticism for a while, but he has had some odd comments about other series as well.

Torishima Has Also Previously Criticized Series Like One Piece and Dragon Ball

Not only has Torishima made weird comments about Demon Slayer, but he was quite harsh on Dragon Ball— a series he personally worked on. Torishima apparently believes the series should’ve ended after the Frieza arc.

Torishima has also attackedOne Piece, the world’s best-selling manga. Back when Oda was just starting, he said he did not believeOne Piecewould succeed. He definitely got proven wrong in that regard.

Available on Crunchyroll and Manga Plus

The Demon Slayer manga concluded long ago, in 2020 to be specific. The story is rather short compared to most other series, and only spans over 205 chapters. Fans of the series who don’t want to wait for the movies to drop can check the manga out on Manga Plus.

Meanwhile, for the anime, the series currently has 4 anime seasons. These anime seasons can all be found on Crunchyroll. The rest of the series will be animated into movies, for which fans will have to wait for a theatrical release. The release date, in this case, depends on their country.
