TheDevil May Cryseries has been seeing major sales boosts in light of the Netflix animated series, with the most recent entry now ranking as Capcom’s best-selling game of 2025’s first quarter. Before stunning action game fans withBayonetta, Hideki Kamiya introduced them toDevil May Cry, which tells the story of a flashy demon slayer named Dante who uses his own supernatural powers to protect the world. So far, there have been five mainlineDevil May Crygames, a 2013 reboot, two animated adaptations, and special guest appearances for Dante and otherDMCcharacters in crossover titles likeMarvel vs. Capcom.
WhileDevil May Cryhas seen its share of peaks and valleys over the years, the franchise gained a whole new wave of attention afterAdi Shankar’sDevil May Cryanimated serieswas released on Netflix in April 2025. Despite some mixed reactions among longtime fans of the games, theDevil May Cryshow was a big success, so much so that a second season was announced not too long after the first season premiered. LikeCyberpunk: Edgerunnersbefore it, theDevil May Cryshow has also drawn more people to start playing the games that inspired it.
Devil May Crygames had already enjoyed aspike in player counts on platforms like Steamin the weeks following the release of the Netflix series, and now it looks like Dante and company are dominating publisher Capcom’s sales figures for the first quarter of 2025 (which ran from the start of April 2025 to the end of June 2025).Capcom reportsthat 2019’sDevil May Cry 5was the highest-selling Capcom game in that period at over 1.7 million units, beating out no less than three entries in theResident Evilseries.

Ranking in fifth place wasDevil May Cry HD Collection, an updated compilation of the first threeDevil May Crygames, at 594,000 reported sales for the first quarter of 2025.Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition, itself an updated release of 2008’sDevil May Cry 4that addednew playable characters like Vergil, Lady, and Trish to the mix, came in seventh place at 495,000 sales.
So far, there is no word on any newDevil May Crygames in development, though original series creator Hideki Kamiya has recently expressed interest in remaking the first game once he is finished with the long-awaitedOkamisequel. There have also beenrumors of aDevil May Cry 3remake, though this too is just the subject of rumor and speculation at this time. What is clear from these recent sales figures is thatDevil May Cryis getting more popular, thanks in part to the hit Netflix series.
