Disney Dreamlight Valleyis teasing the upcoming addition of two characters from the hit animated movie franchiseInside Out. Joy and Sadness look to be coming in a futureDisney Dreamlight Valleyupdate, and while no names have been officially dropped just yet, many players are hoping their fellow emotions will be joining the cast as well.
Debuting in theaters in 2015, the originalInside Outfollowed the lives of five anthropomorphized emotions living in the head of an 11-year-old girl as she adjusts to her family’s move from Minnesota to San Francisco. The 2024 sequel picked up the story a year after Joy and Sadness' mutual understanding of their dedication to Riley’s well-being, andInside Out 2’s addition of new emotionslike Anxiety and Ennui helped launch it onto the list of the top-grossing movies of all time, where it currently sits in ninth place, betweenSpider-Man: No Way HomeandJurassic World.
Though the game’s social media team has dropped a few teasers pointing to anInside Outupdate over the last couple of days, a new post clearly shows Joy and Sadness' glimmering silhouettes under a header that invites fans to make their best guess at who the next unrevealed set ofcharacters coming toDisney Dreamlight Valleywill be. This latest post follows previous teases which showed a shelf filled with emotion orbs and a bedroom scene with five beds illuminated with the colors of the five emotions from the first film.
Inside Out’s Joy and Sadness are Coming to Disney Dreamlight Valley
Fans have been quick to identify the correct characters matching the silhouettes, and while there is plenty of excitement around their impeding arrival, not everyone is happy about the most recent announcement. Some fans who had already sussed out an upcomingInside Outupdate were expecting Anger, Disgust, and Fear to be joining the game as well, based on the bedroom image, and the new post has left them feeling misled. Others are holding out hope thatInside Out 2’s Anxietywill make an appearance, while a few others are confused over how emotions who reside only in the mind will be able to walk around the valley and interact with its other residents.
This isn’t the first time that Gameloft has tapped into Disney’s highest-grossing animated movie of all time. Summer 2024 saw anInside Out 2event hitDisney Dreamlight Valleycalled Memory Mania, tasking players with finding items important to Riley and using the memory pieces they generated to restore core memory photographs and unlock rewards like furniture and animal companions. Near the end of the event, Gameloft also gave players a code that would unlock mood bracelets based on the film, and some players are hoping these additions will make a return along with Joy and Sadness.
