Hilltop Layer is the second world that players will explore inDonkey Kong Bananza. Unlike Lagoon Layer, it does not have any sublayers, so gamers won’t have to search for as many Banandium Gems in comparison. However, that doesn’t mean they’re not as challenging to find.

This guide shows players where they can find all of the main story Banandium Gems in Hilltop Layer inDonkey Kong Bananza. Here, gamers will learn information on the locations of all bananas in Hilltop Layer except those that can only be found in the post-game (Banandium Gem #3, #4, and #5).

SL200 Banana #1 - Bruised Peekabruiser

To get this gem, players must firstdefeat Peekabruiser in SL102and then descend down to Hilltop Layer.

SL200 Banana #2 - Cave Dwelling Treasure

There is a cave near the Fractone Village checkpoint. Players will notice a cheeky blue rock person inside, and it’ll show them the way deeper into the cave.

to get to the end of the cave, players will have to break through some metal walls, so it is best if they activate their Bananza form in order to be able to smash through them. At the end of the cave, players will find a Banandium Gem.

SL200 Banana #6 - Battle: Dig, Dig, Dig on Down

Next to the Hilltop Layer SL200 Warp Gong, there is an opening in a rock with a blocked manhole- two blue rock folk will be standing in front of it. Players must use their singing ability to remove the seal and enter the manhole.

Inside, they must dig down and reach and eliminate the Crockoid enemy down below within 30 seconds to complete the challenge and receive the Banandium Gem. Players should activate DK’s Bananza form as soon as they can, as there are some metal obstacles along the way that can be easily destroyed in this form. The Crockoid itself is also much easier if DK has transformed.

SL200 Banana #7 - The Shifty Path Under the Village

Players must throw terrain at the glowing substance below Fractone Village. This will turn into a block temporarily, so gamers must act fast and climb the wall up to the platform. Then, they must break the wall and enter the hidden room where a banana is hidden.

SL200 Banana #8, #9, and #10 - A Shifty Path Forward, An Out-of-the-Way Room, and Make-Your-Own Platforms

To get these bananas, players must do the Shifty Platform Road challenge course. The first and last bananas can be found simply by following the path of the course, but the second one is in a hidden room. To find this room, players must look to the left after the first platforming section. They will notice a platform going up and down; they must throw some terrain at it so it solidifies and they can hop onto it safely.

Then, they have to grab some of the block that they used to materialize the substance and throw it at the thorns blocking the entrance into the room; on the other side, they will find a Banandium Gem.

SL200 Banana #11 and #12 - Hilltop Fragmentone Recovery and Hilltop Fragmentone Restoration

There is a cave underneath Fractone Village, and inside players will find a rock person that looks almost like a puzzle piece. It is missing some of its fragments. If players retrieve the three missing fragments, they will receive two Banandium Gems in return. The fragments are hidden inside the cave. Here is where to find them:

SL200 Banana #13 - Battle: Spike-Spout Scrap

Players will have to fight three Crockoids in a challenge course to get this Banandium Gem. Thankfully, when they start the level, DK automatically picks up a bunch of gold, making it possible for him to transform immediately.

SL200 Banana #14 - Hilltop Hide-and-Seek

To get this banana, players must find the four Hiddentones hiding near the concrete structure.

SL200 Banana #15 - Hilltop Smashin' Stats

Players have to talk to Smashintone, the rock person near the banana structure by the Construction Site checkpoint. If the player has smashed through at least 20,000 m³ of Stone in Hilltop Layer, it will give players the Hilltop Smashin' Stats Banandium Gems.

Gamers can check their Smashin' Stats in the Collections menu.

SL200 Banana #16 - Bloomed in the Hilltop Layer

Players must help the Bloomintone by destroying the banana-shaped rock that is blocking its light.

SL200 Banana #17, #18, and #19 - Thorny-Hill Finish Line, Thorny-Hill Buzzer Beater, and Thorny-Hill Hideaway

To get the first banana, players will have to complete the Thorny Hill Speed Surf challenge course, and to get the second banana, they must do it within 40 seconds or less.

The last banana is hidden behind the wall at the finish line. Players can climb it by picking up some terrain and pressing the Jump button twice.

SL200 Banana #20 - Shifty Smash: Break the Canopy

There is a tunnel in the mud mound that leads up to Peel Peak. Here, players will find an activation switch that will cause a breakable material to appear. Players must break 100 percent of it while dodging the spiky balls that will fall from above. Thankfully, there are some apples in the boxes nearby to heal them up if necessary.

SL200 Banana #21 - Battle: Three-Tiered Tussle

While climbing the mud mound up to Peel Peak, players will spot a challenge course that they can access by singing near it and then punching downwards. In this challenge, they have to defeat three Crockoids within the time limit.

SL200 Banana #22 - Peeled from Peel Peak

Players must clear the voided terrain to progress inDonkey Kong Bananza. To do this, they must climb Peel Peak and get rid of the Void Kong mask at the top. A Banandium Gem near it, previously covered in voided terrain, will be collectible once DK destroys the mask.

SL200 Banana #23 - The Skies Over Peel Peak

There is a banana floating above Peel Peak. In order to get it, players must grab some terrain and throw it at the cloud keeping the banana high up. It will then fall, and players will be able to retrieve it.

SL200 Banana #24 - Bananas All the Way Down

There is a concrete door at the end of the middle banana located at the bottom of Peel Peak. Players can break it open by transforming into Kong Bananza and punching it.

SL200 Banana #25 - Shifty Smash: The Rotating Ring

Players will find Banana #25 in one of the many caves in Hilltop Layer. To initiate this challenge and get the banana, players must punch the bright, floating substance. However, it is timed, and in order to complete it before the timer ends, players are advised to activate the Kong Bananza transformation. If they don’t have enough gold, they will notice a shiny spot besides the rock person, which will burst with gold upon being punched.

Players must destroy 100 percent of the shiny material before the countdown reaches zero. The fastest way to do it is to go around in a circle and smash through it as it comes. Concrete will be in the mix, which is why gamers should be in Bananza form to succeed in this challenge.

SL200 Banana #26, #27, and #28 - Against the Oncoming Tide, Against the Winding Tide, and Amidst the Hidden Tide

To acquire these Banandium Gems, players will have tocomplete the Spiked-Tide Slope challenge course. The first and last bananas are found naturally by completing the course, but the second requires players to climb down the side of the course before reaching the area where the third banana is, throw a Boom Rock at the concrete wall on the ceiling and on the ground, and climb the ceiling to grab it on the other side.

SL200 Banana #29 - The Flying Banana

There is a banana attached to a flying slab going around near the banana bunch rock structure. The gem can be difficult to reach, but it hovers closer to the ground when it gets close to the rocks. Therefore, players will be able to get close enough to it to break it if they memorize its pattern.

SL200 Banana #30 - Gold-Dipped Banana

Close to the Fractone Village Warp Gong, players will notice an abudance of spiky balls falling onto a hole filled with concrete. Below, there is a Banandium Gem. Players can activate DK’s Bananza form and break the concrete to retrieve it, but the spiky balls will fall on top of him and damage him. Therefore, gamers should Hand Slap (R) the area surrounding the concrete circle before falling below in order to create a barrier that prevents the spiky balls from going down as well.

SL200 Banana #32 - Cranky’s Hilltop Rant

Cranky Kong is standing on a cloud located by a large banana-shaped rock, where players previously found Quiztone. To get him to drop down and give players the Banandium Gem, they have to grab a rock and throw it in his direction so the cloud will disperse and he will fall down to the ground.

SL200 Banana #33 - Shifty Smash: Downhill Run

Players must Turf Surf to the goal before the timer reaches zero in order to get Banana #33.

SL200 Banana #34 - Tunneling Through the Pit

There are two platforms on the walls of the tunnel down to the Undertone Canal. On the one closest to the bottom, there is a concrete door that players can smash through if they transform into Kong Bananza. Inside is where gamers will find Banana #24.

SL200 Banana #35, #36, and #37 - Treasured Memories, Over the Valley, and Hijinxs in the Jungle

To get these three bananas, gamers must play through the Nostalgia Country challenge course. The last two bananas can be found and collected simply by playing the level, but the first one is a bit more hidden. Thefirst banana in Nostalgia Countryis located right above the entrance of the level. Players can climb up there by grabbing a chunk of terrain and pressing the Jump button twice.

SL200 Banana #38 - Hilltop Chip Exchange

To get the last Banandium Gem in Hilltop Layer, players must head to the Chip Exchange shop in Fractone Village and purchase it for 10 Chips and 100 Gold.
