7Maps In Veilguard Aren’t As Vast As Inquisition

Dragon Age Returns To More Linear Maps To Explore

One of the biggest issues withDragon Age: Inquisitionwas that, although the game had an assortment of places for the player to visit, these large open spaces weren’tfilled with much excitementfor players, which left them feeling rather boring to explore.

InDragon Age: The Veilguard, the game has returned to more linear pathways likeDragon Age 2and previous titles, while also giving the player plenty of exciting places to explore. This has benefitedVeilguardas the maps still contain an element of adventure while being a lot more fun to navigate, though players ofDragon Age 2should be thankful that they won’t be seeing the same cave structure repeatedly.

6Cameos From Dragon Age 2 Still Exist

Players Will Be Surprised By Who They Meet During Their Adventure

As is expected due to how closely the events ofDragon Age: Inquisitionare connected to the story ofVeilguard, players should expect to see plenty of characters from that game, though these aren’t the only familiar faces a player is likely to see.

Without giving away who the player is likely to meet when completing various companion quest lines inDragon Age: The Veilguard, the player is sure to meet a fan-favorite of the franchise that has appeared throughout the franchise and continues to play a staple role in this one too. 5Found-Family Returns For This Companion Cast

It May Not Be As Dysfunctional As Dragon Age 2, But They’re Still A Family

One of the most significant elements of theDragon Agefranchise has been the cast of characters the player is surrounded by. InInquisition, this meant a group of companions that were brought together for an organization that felt too big to form many worthwhile connections between the characters, though there were some moments.Dragon Age: The Veilguardreduced the number of companions to seven, which is similar to the number of companions players usually had inDragon Age 2after specific events.

A smaller group allowed players to have a moretight-knit relationship with their companions, as well as companions with each other. This allowed for far more interesting moments of dialogue while exploring, with everyone looking out for one another. Many players felt thatDragon Age 2had a rather dysfunctional family feeling. The family feeling returns inVeilguard, though with less shouting.

4Cities Once Again Play A Crucial Role

Harsh Choices Early Will Have Players Caring For A City Like Kirkwall

Any player that lovedDragon Age 2likely enjoyed it for its focus on one city, Kirkwall. Being unable to explore the rest of the world may have had its limits, but as players progressed through the acts of this second main title in the franchise, they found themselves caring for every inch of the city.

The most recentDragon Agetitle manages to once again have players feeling deeply for a city, though this time there are two fascinating places to explore, from the streets of Minrathous to the roofs of Treviso. Players will revisit these locations throughout the story ofDragon Age: The Veilguard, through not only the occasional side quest but also various main story quests with interesting outcomes.

3Play As Another Nobody That Becomes Somebody

Hawke And Rook Both Rise From Nothing

InDragon Age 2,Hawke becomes the Champion of Kirkwallgradually through the varying acts of the story, with them starting out as essentially a nobody refugee who was escaping the Blight with their family.

Rook is similar in some ways, as they may have been recruited into the Veilguard by Varric, due to their potential, but they don’t have any magical powers that make them the chosen one, like the Inquisitor. They are just a normal person that is trying to save the world, even with the Dread Wolf in their head.

2Faster-Paced Combat Feels Familiar

Players Will Likely Feel A Lot Closer To Combat

The combat inDragon Age: The Veilguardis unlike any of the combat players have experienced in previous games. However, even with this in mind, those who have played and enjoyedDragon Age 2are likely to also enjoy Veilguard due to how quick the combat feels.

When fighting inDragon Age 2, players are usually quite up and close when defeating enemies, with it feeling far more fast-paced. This is similar inVeilguard, though the game is a lot more action-packed with fewer abilities for the player to choose while in battle.

1The Return Of Purple Hawke

Sarcastic Options Are Hilarious To Select At All Times

One of the greatest things returning toDragon Age: The Veilguardis the chance to press the previously purple options ofDragon Age 2, which allowed Hawke to deal with every problem ahead of them with humor.

Rook is able tocrack a joke or say something incredibly awkwardduring many moments withinVeilguardthat are sure to have players laughing in their seats as they play. While Rook may not be as brutal as Hawke during some of these moments, it’s great to see the return of purple choices in a world gone wrong.
