Summary

Dragon Ballis no stranger ot giving even some weak characters a variety of abilities that can be considered fascinating. Some may have techniques for utility, and some techniques are more brutal or effective and representative of their state of mind. This is the case with Bardock, Father of Goku; whose abilities look impressive, and perfectly represent the low-class Saiyan warrior. On top of all that, he has eventually gained transformations and other abilities that put him as a huge fan favorite to many people. However, there is no doubt that he is not in the same league as many characters onDragon Ball.

However, what exactly are some of his abilities, and which is more important when it comes to the arsenal that Bardock had? His strength, or his will-power and willingness to fight against the tyrant Freeza? Let’s take a look at some basic moves and abilities he has.

Bardock’s Special Moves

And The Representation Of Brutality

Bardock, as a Saiyan warrior, and generally as a fighter, is not known for anything exceptional other than being as brutal and straightforward as he is in his fighting style. In fact, other than that, Bardock wasn’t entirely stronger than Dodoria, Zarbon, the Ginyu Force, and much less than Freeza. However, his abilities are simple and effective despite his lack of power level, as it shows in his rush attacks andfocus on melee skillsthat are enhanced by his single-minded determination. The following special attacks are mostly rush attacks or melee focused, and the naming itself also shows a lot of the brutality and rebellious spirit:

These abilities don’t focus on utility or distraction, but rather have blitzkrieg similarities in tactics. The abilities fit Bardock perfectly, partially due to the brutality of a Saiyan Warrior being shown on proud display, but mostly because this shows Bardock’s struggle against a massively more powerful tyrant, which showed his willpower and willingness to fight an unwinnable battle. The abilities themselves represent a last ditch struggle, and that’s not even counting how Bardock himself can fly, use Ki, as well as having the potential any Saiyan has. However, hisdeath at the hands of Freezadid cut him short inDragon Ball, leading to not seeing many abilities from him. However, his character wasn’t done with. In fact, he would continue to get transformations as well.

Transformation And Stronger Moves

Will Power Manifest

As shown in a special movie that followed Bardock after having traveled back in time, the low-class Saiyan warrior managed to be pushed to his limit by an ancestor of Freeza, Lord Chilled. This resulted in him breaking his limits and having reached a strength familiar to many of us, and becoming a Super Saiyan. In this form, he certainly became stronger and a lot more capable of fighting even against an ancestor of Freeza. This showed us a lot of his growth, as well as showing what Bardock is willing to fight for, even if he isn’t necessarily a protector of any race or his own. As far as we know, however, he also has an immenseamount of loyalty and spiritthat left an impression on Freeza years later and especially a reminder when Goku first arrived. This is a small demonstration of Bardock’s abilities, and it brings us to one of his strongest abilities, unconventional it may be.

Ultimately, the Saiyan Spirit and rebellious behavior Bardock exudes is his greatest strength, along with being one of the main reasons he was everybody’s fan-favorite for quite a long time. Especially considering he isn’t entirely too powerful to many people outside the content he is shown to be in. So then why do people like Bardock despite his abilities notbeing as iconic, or powerful?Simple. The reason is that Bardock’s moves and abilities were part of a greater story regarding the Saiyan Race, and the origins of where Goku got his behavior as well as his potential from. His rush-down attacks were indicative of his tenacity and brutality in the face of overwhelming odds, and his Final Spirit Cannon is the representation of all his power, which is to say that it was all of his rebellion in one attack.

Ultimately,Dragon Ballmanaged to provide the audience a clear demonstration of Bardock’s abilities, but also the greatest strength he had at the time. Which was his willpower, and unwillingness to give up in the face of overwhelming tyranny.
