One of the biggest changes in the latest update, version 1.1.17.0, addresses the issue of players not having enough safe spaces to set up shop in late-game areas. Funcom has announced that with the release of the latest patch, players will have more places tobuild bases in the Deep Desert, as more Rock Island locations have been set up there, particularly in the PvE section. Players won’t actually see this change go into effect until July 29, following the Coriolis Storm apex, but once the new Rock Islands are in place, they’ll open up a lot more areas for resource gathering in addition to giving high-level players a place to call home.

Another big change in the new patch addresses some serious problems with disappearing vehicles. Some players have complained that they have been losing their ornithopters due to connection issues while they are crossing the Deep Desert, provided that they exit the vehicles partway through the journey. The new update should help to quell these connection issues and also cause ornithopters to respawn near the player when these issues occur.Dune: Awakeningis already reimbursing playerswho have been affected by bugs that result in the loss of vehicles, bases, and other resources, showing the development team has been taking players' in-game property losses seriously, but the bug fix in the latest patch should help prevent such issues from continuing down the road.

Additionally, the latest update provides some additional client and server stability and fixes some exploits that allowed players to inappropriately farm experience using points of interest and duplicate items using social hubs. Version 1.1.17.0 is actually the seventhupdate or hotfix made toDune: Awakeningin July 2025so far, and while the game still has some problems, particularly on the PvP end, Funcom is showing dedication to making player-driven improvements.
