Dungeonborneis a PvPvE dungeon crawler that might be the first experience in the genre for many players due to its free price tag. While the game is easy to start, players need to be aware of a few layers of detail. Missing these details will put gamers at a disadvantage during a dungeon raid.

These mechanics vary from in-game concepts, and attribute details to game basics. Knowing these mechanics that some players may have not noticed will help them get more out of their character and possibly be more effective in PVP and PVE. While the tutorial does a good job of explaining the basics, players still need to know many mechanics.

Mechanic: Hidden Heirlooms With Cool Cosmetics

Secret Heirlooms:

There are currently three unique heirlooms that offer special bonuses that regular heirlooms do not provide. The secret heirlooms are unlocked by finding their perspective heirloom fragment within the map. Hunting for these heirlooms can be difficult but, can be crafted endlessly onceplayers extract with the fragment.

These heirlooms also look amazing, especially the divine crown, which is usable for all classes. The moon pendant gives a stat boost for all attributes. Gathering ample heals and using the rogue’s stealth abilities is the best way to obtain the rare secret heirloom fragments.

Elf:

Undead:

Out of all the race bonuses, elves have the strongest advantages to stealth-focused players. Humans have the advantage of carrying more loot which is beneficial for players seeking to salvage morematerials to craft heirlooms. Undead have no real bonus, aside from powering their abilities, which can be a downside if they need energy during a fight.

The HP regen factor for elf races is slow, but certainly helpful when hiding.

Rogue backstab skeleton dagger

5The Invisible Rogue

Mechanic: Passive Use

The vanishing skill for rogues lasts for 30 seconds and has a short cooldown. During the cooldown, players can use the evaporate passive to turn themselves invisible without needing to wait on a cooldown. The fastest way to do this is to use the Rogue’s backstab dagger ability.

Rogues will backstab enemies for extra damage when standing directly behind them and using daggers. When timed correctly, the attacks can be chained to quickly take down most enemies in PVE. Rogues can use this passive with their vanishing skill to practically remain invisible for most of the game.

elite monster door candles

4Cheesing Doors

Mechanic: Escape in PVP & PVE

Luring PVE enemies behind a door and shutting the door on their face will lock them behind that area until another player opens the door. This gives players access to treasure that elites would otherwise defend.

The same mechanic can work on enemy players, to a degree. Since opening doors takes longer than closing them, players can use this mechanic to help them create distance from other players. Mischievous players can alsothrow damaging flasksat enemies as they open a door.

Fighter whirlwind stone

3Parrying Fighter Spin

Mechanic: Counter Fighter Skill

The fighter spin is a powerful skill in close quarters that will easily overwhelm mages, but not other melee classes. The fighter’s whirlwind ability caneasily be parriedand is weak to two-handed swords, due to its high parry counter damage.

Landing each parry is vital to ensure players do not receive too much damage. Charged M1 attacks are immune to parries and can be used to punish enemies that only aim to parry attacks. Players can also bait the whirlwind and use a mobility move to create distance.

2Adjust Graphical Settings

Mechanic: Better Indoor Brightness

While adjusting the graphic settings to improve lighting can kill the mood, it sure beats squinting at every dark corner to clear it from possible enemies. Turning off shadows significantly brightens up the game whileboosting frame ratesfor gamers on older hardware.

While this isn’t the intended method the developers wish for gamers to experience their game, most players opt to turn shadows off as it does provide an advantage. There is a rift in theDungeonbornecommunity over the option to turn off shadows, with many people requesting the feature be removed for balance.

1Gear Score

Mechanic: Matchmaking Influence

A player’s gear holds a large influence over the matches they enter. Higher geared players will face similarly armored enemies. The system works on a bracket system, but struggles to be balanced near the upper limits. After passing the upper limit gear score, players will face fully armored players with gear that may be far superior to their own.

Once players start using blue gear, they may face purple enemies with far better loot than their own. High gear score lobbies usually have players with lots of experience in PVP. Players can practice PVP in arenas to improve their combat skills. Due to the early access state of the game, the gear score system is subject to frequent tweaks.
