Fairy Tail’sguild system is actually a lot of fun as the idea ofmagical guilds, while not unique, is always a treat to watch. Naturally, when it comes to guilds, there will always be a leader, and it is believed that this leader is the strongest character in the guild.
This article will look at the strongest guild masters within theFairy Tailseries, but will only feature one master per guild. This means only one Fairy Tail master will be discussed, as they have had many in the course of the story.
Magic
Dispel, Telekinesis
Geoffrey is a mage and was the guild master for Blue Skull which was in charge of Magnolia town in the early days. Geoffrey is able to utilize different types of magic, including dispel which he used against Mavis. He was also able to hold off Yuri Dreyar with ease. To defeat him, Mavis had to use deception.
His hatred for Fairy Tail was crystallized, and he went on to establish Phantom Lord, a guild that caused Fairy Tail quite a bit of a hassle. Unfortunately, he did not feature in the mainFairy Tailstory, but Jose Porla carried on his legacy.
White Dragon Slayer Magic
Sting Eucliffe became the guild master of Sabertooth after the defeat of its former leader, Jiemma Orland. Sting is one of the dragon slayers of the Sabertooth guild and can utilize whitedragon slayer magic.
He was even the one responsible for defeating Jiemma both in his human and then later, demon form. The first encounter had Sting blasting a hole through Jiemma and in the second, he did it with the help of his friend, Rogue. Sting was also part of the team of Dragon Slayers that fought Acnologia and was eventually victorious.
Shade Magic
Jose might seem like a harmless character at first but it is soon discovered that he is indeed sinister as evidenced in his attack against the Fairy Tail guild. He was more than happy to destroy their guild building and even sanctioned the brutalization of the Shadow Gear team.
In terms of power, it is clear that Jose is strong considering he was one of the 10 wizarding saints and was able to stand strong in a fight against Grey, Elfman and even Erza. He was eventually taken down, but it required theintervention of Makarov, using Fairy Law to finally defeat him.
Chain Magic (among many others)
Hades, otherwise known as Precht Gaebolg, was the second master of the Fairy Tail guild and was the one who passed the mantle of leadership to Makarov.
He then went on to form the dark guild Grimoire Heart. Their aim was to resurrect Zeref and this put them in conflict with Fairy Tail. Hades uses different types of magic including Chain magic with which he can imprison people. He had to be taken down by the entire Fairy Tail guild with Natsu taking on the power of Laxus. He was killed by Zeref.
Illusion Magic
Mavis Vermillion was the first master of Fairy Tail and generally considered to be one of the greatest tacticians that ever existed. Mavis also excels in different sorts of magic both light and dark. She can create illusions and can even create a whole army of them.
Mavis even in death was able to protect Fairy Tail from destruction at the hands of Acnologia with Fairy Sphere. She is also able to utilize Fairy Law and Fairy Glitter, two of thethree great magicsof the guild. She was recognized by Zeref as an equal and is perhaps the greatest master the guild ever had.
Thorn Curse
Mard Geer is theguild master of Tartaros. He was an immensely powerful demon that was able to fight against the Celestial Spirit King. He was also more than a match for the Fairy Tail crew. He also was able to defeat the twin dragons of Sabertooth when they fought against him. He can use Memento Mori, a devastating curse that was supposed to be the trump card against Zeref and renders the victims completely obliterated.
To defeat him, Natsu had to use Dragon Edge while Grey used Zeroth Destruction Bow. Even then, he still survived and was only defeated and destroyed when Zeref dragged him back into the book of E.N.D. and then burned the book.
Moon Dragon Slayer Magic
Selene is the leader of the Diabolos, a guild located in Guiltina. She is the Moon Dragon God and makes use of Moon Dragon Slayer magic which can fire blasts at enemies. In terms of just raw strength, Selene is probably themost powerful womanin the entire series.
She does have an affinity for humans and likes them so much that she wishes she was them. She was also responsible for the destruction of the former master of Diabolos, Georg Reizen, a very strong mage himself.
Fire And Flame
Fire Dragon Slayer Magic
Ignia is the Dragon King and is the son of his father,Igneel, who is also Natsu’s adoptive father. Ignia is the guild master of Fire and Flame and has claimed to be even more powerful than Acnologia.
Releasing his power was enough to turn a town into a sea of flame. He is even said not to have a smell which means he cannot be detected by someone like Natsu, who has an incredible sense of smell. Ignia can use Fire Dragon Slayer magic but to an even higher degree as he has the magic power of a Dragon God.
