Although the PS5 Pro console launches on November 7, Square Enix released a newFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthupdate ahead of time. According to a social media post by Square Enix,Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthversion 1.050 is now available for download and requires over 6GB of available storage space. PS5 users will see some bug fixes and improvements, but Square Enix did not state what those changes were.The newFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthpatch will give PS5 Pro usersthe option to play the game in “Versatility Mode,” a combination of the already available Graphics Mode and Performance Mode. Ergo,Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthon a PS5 Pro can be played at a 4K resolution and maintain 60 frames per second (FPS).
According to Sony and Square Enix,Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthis one ofa growing list of PS5 Pro Enhanced gamesthat will utilize PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), a new, AI-based upscaling technology comparable to Nvidia’s DLSS 3. Going into the PS5 Pro’s November 7 launch, the upgraded Sony console has over 50 titles that will receive patches to take advantage of the PS5 Pro’s upgraded GPU, ray tracing, and the PSSR upscaler.
As fans awaitnews ofFinal Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, the upgrades toFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthmay give players an idea of how the series' next entry could look on current and future hardware. Only time will tell if more Square Enix games will receive PS5 Pro upgrades.
