Doctor Doom is set to be the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s next big antagonist. Following Josh Brolin’s portrayal of Thanos in Phase Three and the controversy over Jonathan Majors' Kang the Conqueror last year, fans have been clamoring to see whether Kang would be recast or if a completely new character would take his place. At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in August 2024, it was revealed thatRobert Downey Jr. would be playing Victor von Doomin the upcoming movieAvengers: Doomsday. This bold decision has sparked excitement among fans eager to see Downey return to the MCU, but it has also raised concerns about potential long-term impacts on the franchise.
Giventhe controversy over the MCU’s Doctor Doom casting choice, especially since Downey’s send-off inAvengers: Endgamewas generally well-received by fans,Fortnite’s prominent inclusion of Doctor Doom in its latest season might not have been the best timing.
