Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhoodstarts out as a story about two brothers who attempt to bring their mother back by committing a taboo practice known as human transmutation. This causes one of them, Edward, to lose his arm and leg, while his younger brother loses his body and is contained in a suit of armor. However, the story quickly turns to political intrigue and war.

The two brothers and other characters discover that their country is being puppeted from the shadows by the creatures known as Homunculi, artificially created humans with strong regeneration abilities and unique abilities. Each of them serves an evil cause to sacrifice countless people for power, but they vary in their individual vileness. Among them, some take far more pleasure in their crimes than others.

Cheerful Yet Deadly

Gluttony appeared early in the series and remained a recurring antagonist until he died in the final arc.Much like other homunculi, Gluttony represents the sin he is named after, always seeking to consume humans. He is also revealed to be a failed attempt by the Father to create a portal of truth, which in fact became a portal to the void.

Despite Gluttony’s ability to force anyone into the gruesome fate of dying in the void, he isn’t actively malicious. He is loyal to his comrades, and is hurt after learning about Lust’s death. He’s also afraid of disappointing them. Gluttony doesn’t display any hatred towards humans, as shown by his remarkably friendly attitude towards Alphonse.

7Greed

Selfish And Unpredictable

Greed is the wild card of the homunculi, and has been established as such ever since his first introduction. He rebelled against the others multiple times due to his hunger for power. Greed is swift and can form a powerful layer of gray skin around him. After his return, he took over Prince Ling’s body.

Greed remained under Father’s command for a while, feeling no regrets as he obeyed his orders, but he once again betrayed him and sided with the heroes. First, he believed it to be only his selfish desire, but he bonded with Ling and even became a mentor figure. In the end,Greed sacrificed himself for others and completed his redemption arc.

Apathetic And Obedient

Sloth is the last homunculus to appear in the series.He doesn’t get as much spotlight as others, but he manages to display his abilities. Sloth possesses supernatural strength and speed, which allows him to go toe to toe with both the Armstrong siblings and many soldiers at the same time.

Sloth doesn’t show contempt or friendliness toward humans. Instead, he resorts to apathy, which fits his name. Sloth doesn’t have much agency and only does what others tell him. Most of the time, this involves committing crimes that harm humans, but it is never due to his own volition or plan, making Sloth one of the less evil homunculi.

Pragmatic And Ruthless

Wrath is the true identity of Fuhrer Bradley, the country’s ruler and one of the most powerful men in the world. However, he is revealed to be a homunculus named Wrath and yet another pawn of the Father. Bradley is a skilled swordsman and one of the most dangerous homunculi in battle.

Wrath is responsible for much misery in the world ofFullmetal Alchemist. He spearheaded theIshvalan warand prepared the people of his own country for a mass sacrifice. However, he was no stranger to human emotions, as he genuinely loved his wife and enjoyed the pretense of family life. Before his death, Bradley was able to let go of his rage.

Manipulative And Cruel

Lust is one of the first homunculi to appear, and she immediately establishes herself as an uncaring and ruthless character. She watches the Elric brothers and helps create chaos in the city. She fightsRoy Mustangand can be a challenge to one of the strongest alchemists, but she quickly meets her end.

Due to her short tenure, Lust could not commit many atrocities on screen, but she has shown no redeemable qualities during her run. Lust is shown to be manipulative and merciless, taking pleasure in the suffering of alchemists she hunts. She is no doubt among the more evil Homunculi of the series.

Envy is one of the most frequent enemies that the protagonists ofFMAface. He can turn into other people, being an effective shapeshifter. He also feeds on souls from the philosopher’s stone and can enter his true form, a mutated creature comprised of multiple tormented humans.

Envy can be described as pure evil. He once killed a child, which sparked a racial war, and he felt no remorse about it. He isn’t shy about his hatred for humans and his glee and enjoyment when it comes to their suffering. These qualities make Envy a sadistic and monstrous character.

2Father

The Homunculi’s Creator

While technically not one of the homunculi, the Father deserves a mention as the main antagonist of the series and the creator of the seven. He has an aura of mystery around him, and his body looks very similar to that of Elric’s father,Van Hohenheim. He is later revealed to be a mysterious creature from the flask that got out with Hohenheim’s help.

Father is a curious and power-hungry individual. He wants to experience all the world’s knowledge and become a perfect being. He orchestrated a plan to purge the kingdom he ruled from the shadows and absorb all those souls in him. He is callous and uncaring, willing to sacrifice anyone and anything for his gain.

All-Powerful And Remorseless

At first, Pride was introduced as Selim Bradley, a bright young boy and Wrath’s adopted son. However, he was eventually revealed to be the oldest homunculus, named Pride. He is incredibly powerful and can induce primal terror in the hearts of anyone he encounters, and his eventualdefeat only happens via trickery and Kimblee’s help.

Contrasting with his unassuming form as a child, Pride is a ruthless killer who sees humans as gnats beneath him. He often resorts to terror and torture to weaken his opponents. He holds no attachment even to his fellow homunculi, as shown by his consuming Gluttony when he needs more strength.
