Summary
Ghost of Tsushimastarts with disaster striking. Tsushima Island is under attack from the Mongols being led by Khotun Khan and the battle is one the samurai of the island are not prepared for. The Mongols have been studying their ways, and they know how to use their code of honor against them. Fortunately, Jin Sakai is around, and he is prepared to learn new forms of combat to drive off the Mongols.
Jin’s journey begins with relatively few techniques, stances, and charms, although he gains more as he liberates the island. One of the best charms to obtain inGhost of Tsushimais the Charm of Takemikazuichi, which gives Jin a brief boost when activated. Sucker Punch should make the charm the basis of a new game mode that involves boss rushes.
The Charm of Takemikazuichi in Ghost of Tsushima
Charms are items inGhost of Tsushimathat give Jin an advantage during battle. There are dozens of charms to obtain, and the Charm of Takemikazuichi is one of the best. As the description explains, the charm increases melee damage by a minor amount for a few seconds after Jin kills an enemy.
The charm is obtained by honoring theSnowlit Peak Shrine. The buff is a good one to have during battle, where a single sword swipe can dictate the outcome. It allows Jin to flow from one enemy to the next fluidly and strike with deadly force, cutting down the number of foes he has to deal with. For players who prefer to tackle the Mongols instead of attacking from the shadows, they should consider incorporating the charm into their build.
The Charm of Takemikazuichi and a Boss Rush Mode in Ghost of Tsushima
With the Charm of Takemikazuichi’s mechanics in mind, it becomes apparent how a boss rush mode could use the charm. A boss rush mode could have Jin facing off against a series of enemies of increasing difficulty. It would be difficult to handle under normal circumstances, especially when playing onLethal difficulty, but with the Charm of Takemikazuichi, it would make for the perfect combat scenario.
Expanding the Charm of Takemikazuichi Mechanic for a Boss Rush Mode in Ghost of Tsushima
For a boss rush mode to work, there may need to be some slight changes made to theCharm of Takemikazuichi. For example, instead of having a time-limited buff, the charm could provide a stacking bonus for each consecutive boss defeated. This would give players an incentive to build momentum to gain the buffs necessary to take on stronger bosses.
The charm can also incorporate dynamic buffs depending on how players kill bosses. For example, some kills could provide melee buffs while others could provide defensive buffs. This would encourage players to consider the ways players approach and tackle the various bosses.
Expanding Ghost of Tsushima’s Lore Through The Charm of Takemikazuichi
A boss rush mode would be the perfect opportunity to learn more about legendary warriors from the Mongols and Tsushima Island. Each boss could be accompanied by unique dialogue and cutscenes that provide additional context regarding the different bosses. The narrative could explore the histories behind the warriors, adding layers of complexity to Jin’s journey. Not only would this make the boss rush mode more engaging, it would grant greater insight into the conflict between theMongols and the inhabitants of Tsushima Island.
Sucker Punch is still busy with the franchise, and while a sequel has yet to be announced, aGhost of Tsushimamovie is on the way. With a sequel, the studio would have the opportunity to introduce a boss rush mode that both expands combat while providing greater narrative context. Of course, the studio doesn’t need to wait for a sequel to implement the boss rush mode and it could always be added as an additional mode the same wayGhost of Tsushima Legendshas been.
