Developer Obsidian Entertainment also recently announced two editions ofGrounded 2when the game launches in Game Preview for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox PC, and Xbox Cloud, alongside Steam Early Access, Game Pass Ultimate, and PC Game Pass - the Standard Edition and the majestically-titled Minotaurs, Myrmidons, and Mants: Oh My! Founder’s Edition.
If you can’t wait to explore the world ofGrounded 2, you’ll probably be eager to know what each edition provides and when you can get them, especially if you’re eager to return to the size of an ant in style.
Grounded 2 Editions Explained
As recently announced via Xbox Wire, when the Game Preview/Early Access period begins on July 07, 2025, players can jump straight into theStandard EditionofGrounded 2orplay the game day one through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Alternatively, also from July 29, players can buy or upgrade to theMinotaurs, Myrmidons, and Mants: Oh My! Founder’s Edition/Founder’s Edition Pack, which comes with some additional features, with both editions outlined below:
Standard Edition
TheStandard EditionofGrounded 2will be available for purchase forUSD $29.99during the Game Preview/Early Access period. Like the Founder’s Edition, the Standard Edition comes with a copy ofGrounded 2in Game Preview. However, players who get the Standard Edition will also getThe Tools of Yore decorative set, something that all players receive for free whichever edition of the game they choose as a thank-you from Obsidian Entertainment.
Minotaurs, Myrmidons, and Mants: Oh My! Founder’s Edition
In contrast,The Minotaurs, Myrmidons, and Mants: Oh My! Founder’s EditionofGrounded 2will costUSD$39.99or, alternatively,USD $10.00for theFounder’s Pack upgradefor those who might choose to purchase or have access to the Standard Edition. Therefore, if you plan on playingGrounded 2on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate/PC Game Pass or, if you later change your mind after obtaining the Standard Edition, the Founder’s Edition will also be available as theFounder’s Pack upgrade, which costsUSD $10.00. Obsidian has also confirmed that the cosmetic items in the Founder’s Edition/Founder’s Pack upgrade won’t affect gameplay or progression. The main differences between the Standard Edition and Founder’s Edition seem to be mainly cosmetic, plus behind-the-scenes digital art/soundtrack content. However, the addition of ‘More items will be added with secrets’ in the Founder’s Edition suggests it could also contain even more features yet to be announced, though what these might be remains to be seen.
Grounded 2is also launching into Game Preview and Early Access with various accessibility features, includingArachnophobia Safe Mode, colorblind mode, subtitle customization, and more. With Xbox Play Anywhere, you can also playGrounded 2across Xbox consoles and Xbox PC with full cross-saves at no additional cost via a single purchase.
