‘A Strange Warning’ is one of the main quests inGrounded 2where the mysterious stranger sends waves of controlled O.R.C. soldiers to attack the player’s base. This is the very first wave attack players will have to face in the game, making death a very real possibility for the unprepared.
Some may be wondering what happens if the insects in ‘A Strange Warning’ manage to succeed in killing the player. The game doesn’t outright detail what will occur if the wave attack isn’t successfully defended. Here is how it works.
What Happens if You Die in ‘A Strange Warning’ in Grounded 2
If you are killed in ‘A Strange Warning,’the quest will not fail; it will merely be delayed. You will be able to respawn at your chosen checkpoint and will be able to return to your base to get your items from your dropped backpack. The stranger will immediately contact you when you respawn, expressing her disappointment in your failure but promising to return “soon.”
If the stranger does not contact you when you respawn after being killed in ‘A Stranger Warning,’ it means the quest is bugged. Restart from an earlier save to continue progressing.
To reattempt ‘A Strange Warning,’talk to Sloane Beaumontin the Ranger Outpost: Snackbar again, andbuild another Spike Trapnear your base. The stranger will contact you again, telling you she will be sending another wave attack soon. A timer appears on-screen when she issues this warning, indicating how long it will take before the insects appear. In our game, it tooktwo full days before the stranger’s attackarrived for the second time.
An easy way to tell if the quest is progressing as intended is by trying to sleep in a Lean-To. A red message will appear, stating “Cannot sleep with enemies incoming!” This message only appears if an attack is coming on the same day.
If successful, the insect wave will not completely destroy your base, but some of your base structures will be damaged. Use theOmni-Wrenchto repair damaged structures.
How to Complete ‘A Strange Warning’ in Grounded 2
The stranger sends three Red Soldier Ants, one Orb Weaver Jr., and a Spiderling to attack your base. The most effective solution to defeat this wave in the early game is building anAcorn Turret, an early game defensive structure that’s unlocked after you buy the recipe from the Science Shop. You’ll need the following materials to construct this device:
To use the turret, you’ll also need Rocky Rounds, which serve as ammunition for the device. Ten Rocky Rounds can be crafted using:
Additionally, inviting friendsto help in co-opandrecruiting Worker Antsusing your Red Solder Ant Buggy will also help with the defense.
