Summary

A brand-new map forHalo Infinite’s Infection game mode features a nostalgic tribute to production company Rooster Teeth. Although Rooster Teeth closed its doors for the final time earlier this year, thisHalo Infinitetribute is a great way to pay homage to the company.

Rooster Teeth was the company behindRed vs. Blue. What started as aHalo: Combat EvolvedMachinima eventually became a web series that ran for 18 seasons, propelling the entire company for success.Red vs. Blueconcluded earlier this year, coinciding with (but not related to) the company’s closure. Over the years, several Rooster Teeth personalities had voice cameos inHalogames, showing how admired the company was by both Bungie and 343 Industries. This latest Easter egg is a good reminder of how important Rooster Teeth has been toHalo’s culture over the last couple of decades.

It was recently noticed by Redditor MonkeysxMoo35 that the newHalo InfiniteInfectionmap, Studio Fright, which was made by community member UnknownEmerald, features a set that will be very familiar to Rooster Teeth fans. For the unfamiliar, this is the set of the Rooster Teeth Podcast, which ran between 2008 and 2024. While the set evolved over the years, this version featured inHalo Infiniterepresents later iterations, and certainly can’t be mistaken for anything else. While there will be some players who don’t get it, it’s cool to see the reference included regardless.

WhileRooster Teeth’s closurewas unfortunate, it’s a testament to the legacy it left behind that it’s still popping up inHalogames to some degree. Machinima itself is almost a lost art at this point, having reached its peak during the mid to late-2000s, andRed vs. Bluewas one of the few that endured long after this point. While this is purely speculation, it’s not unfair to suggest that gamers might see moreRed vs. Blueor Rooster Teeth Easter eggs inHalogames in the future. Given how long it has been around, it’s very possible that there are individuals working onHalowho grew up onRed vs. Blue, which is cool to think about.

TheHalofranchise is in for a fascinating few years. Earlier this month, it was revealed thatHalodeveloper 343 Industries is changing its name to Halo Studios, and is moving to Unreal Engine 5 for all future projects. While it seems like every game in existence is hopping on the Unreal Engine 5 train at the moment, inHalo’s case, it could be a blessing. It allows the developer to bring in individuals experienced with the engine without needing to train them on its proprietary Slipspace Engine as before. With multipleHalotitles confirmed to be in development, there’s a lot to look forward to in the franchise’s future.
