Over the past few months, there have been a number of leaks aboutHelldivers 2’s Illuminate faction. These leaks have suggested the upcoming faction will feature various enemies. One such enemy is Tripod (also known as Sentinel), which looks very similar to the Fighting Machine fromThe War of the Worlds.
Based on leaks,Helldivers 2’s Illuminate factionwill feature melee and ranged enemies, each with their own unique abilities. There will allegedly be a magic wielder, the Adept, who throws the Void Flame to deal damage. Some early leaks indicate that the Illuminate faction will also feature a melee combatant, the Guy, who can perform rapid attacks using a staff. As of writing, it’s unknown when these enemies will arrive inHelldivers 2.
ThelatestHelldivers 2leak from IronS1ghtshas revealed the in-game footage of Illuminate Tripod, a brand-new enemy that will allegedly arrive soon. As its name implies, the Tripod has three tentacles, each at least five times the character’s length. As seen in the footage, these tentacles are higher and thicker than expected. It reminds many players of the Fighting Machine from 2005’sThe War of the Worldsmovie.
Helldivers 2’s Tripod Fires a Beam From Its Eye
Likeother enemies inHelldivers 2, the Tripod will have a weakness that players can exploit to kill it more easily. As per the leak, the enemy will fire a beam, but this ability can be disabled by breaking its eye. Players can expect it to have a slower movement speed than many other Illuminate creatures and appear at higher difficulty levels.
Speaking of enemies,Helldivers 2’s Escalation of Freedom update brought back Impalersfrom the first game to offer players a new challenge. These tanky creatures bear a resemblance to Chargers, but they have even more armor. Their tentacles knock players to the ground and make them vulnerable to other nearby enemies. Luckily, Impalers only appear in difficulty 5 and above missions.
There are currentlytwo factions inHelldivers 2, Automaton and Terminid, each having a lineup of enemies. Major orders usually task players with eradicating these robotic and bug creatures, which invade planets across the galaxy. If early leaks are true, the third enemy faction, Illuminate, will be added toHelldivers 2by the end of this year.
