Hollow Knight: Silksong Skipping Gamescom 2024
Ever since then, fans have been speculating about the possibility ofSilksongappearing at pretty much every major event that came and went in the meantime. Looking to get ahead of such chatter this time around, long-time Gamescom presenter Geoff Keighley has recently taken to Twitter to state that theHollow Knightsequel will be skipping this year’s edition of the show because Team Cherry “is still cooking.” The move marks the second occasion on whichKeighley tempered Gamescom expectationsover the past 12 months, having also done so ahead of the 2023 edition of the convention.
As for Team Cherry’s highly anticipated title,Hollow Knight: Silksonghas already disappointed fansseveral times this year, one for each of the early summer game showcases that took place in June 2024. The lack of updates about the project’s status has long been memed in the online community, which has been waiting forSilksongfor over half a decade as of this writing.
Even though theHollow Knightsequel is skipping the Cologne-based event, plenty of other games won’t be.Gamescom 2024 is even expected to set a new recordfor the number of exhibitors, as over 1,400 developers and publishers from 64 countries will be presenting at the show, a 15% year-on-year increase. The convention has also reserved an unprecedented number of country pavilions, 48, which will be dedicated to 37 countries.
Gamescom will be preceded by its traditional Opening Night Live (ONL) announcement show hosted by Keighley, which is scheduled to take place on August 20, starting at 11am PT / 2pm ET / 8pm CET. The convention itself will run from August 21 to 25.
