This post contains spoilers for Solo Leveling.
Quick Links
Solo LevelingSeason 2 was released in January 2025, and it received overwhelmingly positive reviews. A key reason for its success was the insanely high quality of animation, and the credit goes to A-1 Pictures. The studio is renowned for producing top-tier adaptations, and, suffice it to say, A-1 Pictures didn’t disappoint.
Fans enjoyed almost all episodes from season 2, which is why the anime was breaking records each week. While there is certainly a lot of hype surrounding Solo Leveling, there is a good chance that it will start going down with time.
Solo Leveling Season 2 Was Full Of Amazing Action Episodes
Solo Leveling’s latest season didn’t disappoint in terms of action. The official accounts associated with the anime would post a clip of a fight, and it would amass millions of views in next to no time, which proves that fans loved the sequences. The highlight of season 2 was certainly thefight between Sung Jinwoo and Beru.
The way the animators handled the battle was phenomenal, and they deserve all the credit that they can get. After the Jeju Island raid was over, the season ended with cameos from Monarchs and other powerful Hunters. Overall, the second season was solid, but there were some shortcomings.
Solo Leveling Season 2 Lacked In Terms Of Story
Solo Leveling Season 2 Came Up Short In Some Areas
The second season of the anime was primarily focused on action, and it didn’t provide much in terms of story. Almost every episode was the same.Sung Jinwoo engaged an enemyin combat, and he got the better of them after fighting for a while. Occasionally, Sung Jinwoo struggled in fights, which, to be fair, added a bit of tension. However, the pattern became repetitive and ultimately boring.
There were a few good moments between Jinwoo and his mother, but they didn’t impact the overall story. Solo Leveling fans love the action, but that alone can’t paper over the cracks. These gaps become even more conspicuous when Solo Leveling is compared to other anime series.
As previously stated, Solo Leveling is lacking in several departments. While the anime is airing, viewers might overlook these shortcomings. But with time, it becomes increasingly clear that Solo Leveling is not as good as it’s made out to be. When it’scompared to other titles like Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, The Apothecary Diaries, Takopi’s Original Sin, One Piece, and Lord of Mysteries, Chugong’s Solo Leveling doesn’t seem all that. All the aforementioned names have better storytelling and world-building than Solo Leveling. Both of these qualities are more than enough to keep viewers hooked. One can only hope that the next seasons will be better in this regard.
Solo Leveling Is A Good Action Anime
Season 3 Could Be Announced Soon
While Solo Leveling may not be the perfect anime, it’s still an excellent choice for fans who love action. So far, all the fights in the anime have been breathtaking, andthere’s no doubt that A-1 Pictures willbe looking to continue the streak with the third season of the anime.
Presently, there’s no information about the third season or its release date, but it’s inevitable that the anime will return in the next couple of years. There have been rumors of the anime releasing its third season in 2028. However, fans are expecting the studio to finish the production and release the new season in 2027.
A-1 Pictures will want to build onthe hype and release the next installment as quickly as possible. Of course, the studio shouldn’t rush the production, as it will adversely affect the show’s quality. But at the same time, it shouldn’t linger longer than needed.
Some fans have speculated that Solo Leveling might also release a movie like Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, which will cover an entire arc. At this point, it’s all conjecture, yet it is not completely impossible. Given the success of the Demon Slayer movies, A-1 Pictures might be propelled to head in the same direction.
