Summary
Developer Avalanche Software will need to put in a lot of work to flesh outHogwarts Legacy 2’s world and build upon the exploration present in the first title. This investment in the 2023 title naturally resulted in a great number and types of collectibles present. It can take players approximately 70 hours to platinumHogwarts Legacy, and many will complete the campaign before they manage to get every single item or trophy out there.
In this regard,Hogwarts Legacy 2desperately needs to turn over a new leaf with one feature: make collectible hunting easier. This doesn’t mean that the title should drop the number or types of items to collect. It can simply be the addition of a quality-of-life feature that makes the process easier if players choose to take it up. One way that Avalanche can do this is by adding item maps to the game, the way thatExplorer maps work inMinecraft.
Why Hogwarts Legacy 2 Needs to Sell Item Maps in Shops
It is naturally believed thatHogwarts Legacy 2will build upon and evolve from the first title, at least in terms of exploration, if not quests. Even if Avalanche doesn’t increase the game’s scope in terms of places to discover and things to find, it needs to allow players to purchase specialized maps that show the location of certain collectibles and big-ticket items. This is simply becauseHogwarts Legacymakes it quite difficult to platinum the game.
That’s not to say that Avalanche makes things exceptionally vague. For example, players can zoom out on a particular region of the map and see the total number of Collection Chests, Field Guide Pages, Merlin Trials, etc. present there, as well as how many they still need to find. But while the game does offer this information, it holds back on actually telling players where they need to find these. Sure, those like the Beast Dens andMerlin Trials come marked onHogwarts Legacy’s maponce players discover a certain area, but there are many other things they are kept in the dark about.
The Demiguise Statues, for one, are extremely important since they allow players to learn the Alohomora spell up to Level 3. This spell allows players to gain access to several locked areas in and around Hogwarts, and get collectibles. However, this is easier said than done since theDemiguise Statues are difficult to find inHogwarts Legacy, and many players may even overlook them in during daytime since they don’t glow then.
Aside from these, there are also Collection Chests, Field Guide Pages, and such that players can only discover if they cast the Revelio spell in close proximity. And although the spell can be upgraded to increase its radius, the final coverage still isn’t enough. They can speed up the process by using abroom to move around inHogwarts Legacy’s highlands, but the inconvenience of casting it again and again will still remain. Hence, it’s important that Avalanche allows players to buy maps so that they can discover these collectibles more easily.
How Hogwarts Legacy 2 Can Make Collectible-Hunting Easier
Hogwarts Legacy 2can make it easier for fans to 100% the game by allowing them to buy specialized maps from shops, the way that players can trade with theWandering Trader inMinecraft. To make it balanced, Avalanche can make the prices sufficiently high where players need to factor the cost in making the decision. It could also put a couple of very specialized maps available via secret shops or during certain times that fans need to puzzle out.
Some, for example, could also be attained as rewards by completing certain quests. This could also help along the concept ofHogwarts Legacy’s allegedly canceled Morality system and branching storylines, as players' choices could help them get some items faster or not at all.
By incorporating item maps this way, Avalanche could make the collectible-hunting process much easier for fans. And if there are secret maps that unlock access to hidden areas, saySalazar Slytherin’s Chamber of Secrets, it could make fans more likely to try and get a 100% achievement inHogwarts Legacy 2.
