Summary

Although there’s no telling whenHollow Knight: Silksongwill be released, it does at least promise players a lot to look forward to. In the same way asthe originalHollow Knight’s locations, the sequel’s world is intended to be brimming with beautiful environments, dangerous enemies, and intriguing secrets, but on a much larger scale. It is also planned to have content that its predecessor did not, making some wonder how they’ll be able to tackle everything. But immense environments mean that a particular feature is likely needed, one that has helped many players in the world of theHollow Knight.

With Team Cherry stating thatHollow Knight: Silksong’s world will be large, likely much larger than that ofHollow Knight’s, it will take quite some time for players to traverse the different areas of the game. This could become a problem during exploration, especially for those who need to backtrack to certain areas to find the right paths toward main or side objectives. The previous game helped alleviate this issue by providing players with fast travel options, specifically the Stagways and the Trams. Since the sequel promises to have an expansive world, having both come back as a means of quick transportation might be necessary.

How Trams and Stagways Can Be Reintroduced in Hollow Knight: Silksong

FindingHollow Knight’s Stagwaysand Trams made it much easier for players to get around the areas of Hallownest, meaning they’d be a welcome addition in the sequel. However, there has to be a proper explanation as to why they’re in the new world, as having them exist without any clarification as to why they’re there can take away any immersion the game has built. With that said, there are a few ways forSilksongto explain the return of Stagways and Trams:

Other than a means of travel withinthe kingdom of Pharloom, perhaps the Stagways and trams could be used to shed light on its history. If it can properly tie itself with the world of the previous game, then it may lead to interesting content in the future.

Why the Bell Beast Shouldn’t Be the Only Method of Fast Travel

While some would enjoy the return of Stagways and Trams, the sequel has already set up a way for Hornet to get herself around Pharloom. The Bell Beast is a unique means of fast travel inSilksong, as it’s a giant monster that must be freed and defeated before it offers its transportation service. As interesting as that sounds, it should not be the only way to traverse the new kingdom. Having more ways to travel can help emphasize just how large the new world is, giving players a chance to appreciate just how much there is to explore. More transport services could also be used to tuck away secrets or build up the sequel’s lore.

The world ofHollow Knightwas already large and withSilksonglooking to be even bigger than its predecessor, it may benefit from the return of Stagways and Trams. While the Bell Beast offers what the two can, adding them would still enhance the players' experience with the sequel due to how they can affect the world. They may even lead to innovations in how fast traveling operates if Team Cherry decides to have them return with a few modifications, making the possibility of their reintroduction more interesting and valuable.
